QUALIFICATIONS
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Five (5) years of relevant experience navigating legal issues related to rights management/administration and related royalty distributions.
- Proven experience addressing, researching, and resolving complex inquiries from internal business units and external stakeholders.
- Strong experience working with cross-functional teams to meet performance metrics for resolving inquiries related to rights management & administration and related royalty distributions.
- Demonstrated ability to create and streamline processes in ambiguous and evolving environments.
- Strategic thinker with a sharp ability to grasp intricate details quickly.
- Exceptional communication skills, with a talent for clear, concise, and effective messaging.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
SUPPORT RIGHTS MANAGEMENT AND MEMBER EXPERIENCE TEAMS BY:
- Providing guidance for The MLC's Rights Management processes, such as dispute resolution, overclaim resolution, catalog transfer, and notice of statutory termination.
- Conducting comprehensive legal research on matters related to publishing administration agreements and other contracts, including detailed review, analysis, and interpretation of contract provisions to address requests from internal business partners.
- Providing legal and strategic guidance regarding the application of Section 115 and implementing its regulations.
YDEVELOP AND EXECUTE STRATEGIC INITIATIVES BY:
- Developing and implementing strategies and processes that align with and support The MLC's business goals.
- Identifying potential bottlenecks, assessing risks, and proactively mitigating issues, including establishing processes and protocols for efficient escalation.
- Collaborating with Technology and Data Analytics teams to track and analyze KPIs & metrics to make sound recommendations for the Senior Leadership Team.
- Developing and refining internal processes to optimize efficient workflows. Streamlining existing processes to enhance productivity and reduce inefficiencies. This includes collaborating with other departments to design cross-functional workflows that improve coordination and alignment.
- Providing training and guidance to other departments to ensure smooth implementation and adherence to established workflows.
- Driving ongoing improvements that adapt to changing needs and promote excellence.
- Representing The MLC at various industry events and conferences. Assisting the Marketing team by participating on panels designed to educate and encourage copyright owners to become MLC members.
