Job Description:

Description: The Pharmacy Systems Manager provides departmental direction and administrative management of Information and Pharmacy Technologies.
Typical Duties:
  • Ensures integration of technologies with operational workflow.
  • Manages technology related initiatives, including contractual and budgetary issues.
  • Overall responsibility for research, implementation, budgeting, maintenance and support of current and future technologies.
  • Project Management for pharmacy technology initiatives.
  • Coordinates vendor related activities, to include support, purchases, and contract execution.
  • Provides tech support for 340B drug and program including, but not limited to: purchasing, receiving and compliance.
  • Prepares and assists in the monitoring, tracking and reporting measurements of by conducting audits to ensure 340B program compliance.
  • Sets direction for short term and long-term pharmacy initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains accountability system for IT pharmacy services.
  • Serves as a liaison between IT, medical, nursing, and allied health staff and the department concerning IT issues.
  • Ensures proper fiscal management of all information systems, and technology initiatives.
  • Attends all necessary meetings and conferences relative to Information Technology or Pharmacy Technologies.
  • Oversees the management of application support initiatives or administrative support initiatives that impact pharmacy operations.
  • Works with users and pharmacy administration to resolve IT related issues.
  • Communicates direction and goals to Pharmacy staff members.
  • Ensures both long term and daily operational technology needs are being met.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.


  • Qualifications:

      Required Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor of Science or Doctorate degree in Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy.
    • 3 plus years of progressive pharmacy IT experience.
    • 3 plus years of experience with Epic System.
    • 3 plus years of computer skills, project management and implementation.
    • Preferred Education and Experience:
    • 5 plus years of hospital experience.
    • Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
    • Active Texas State Board Pharmacist License.
