Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Coatings Engineer to join our Engineering Group. This role will oversee coatings operations and provide inspection services, expertise, and advice on the application of a variety of coatings used in pump and motor refurbishment. These include nuclear-grade Service Level 1 coatings, specialized two-part epoxy coatings, and electrical component coatings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Nuclear Service Level 1 Coatings Inspections and Certifications.
  • Qualify and supervise Level 1 and Level 2 Coatings Inspectors.
  • Train and qualify applicators for coatings application.
  • Review coating specifications included in RFP documents.
  • Assess and improve current coating methods, recommending techniques and application equipment to enhance quality.
  • Interface with customers to assist in coatings selection and application strategies.
  • Stay current on all regulations, standards, and requirements related to coatings.
  • Maintain active participation in AMPP and other coatings-related trade organizations.
  • Collaborate with the EMC QA Manager to ensure coatings meet quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, write, and update coatings application and inspection procedures as needed.

Qualifications
  • Minimum NACE/SSPC/AMPP Level 1 certification (Level 2, Level 3, or Nuclear Coatings Inspection Specialty is a plus).
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on inspection experience in coatings.
  • Minimum 2 years of commercial nuclear coatings experience.
  • Current or previous certification per ASTM D4537 as a Level 1 or Level 2 is a plus.
  • Ability to qualify as a Level 3 Nuclear Grade Coatings Inspector.
