Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned)

Provides advanced technical support and manages the function responsible for report preparation and data analysis for management decision making and external audiences. Leads a wide variety of operations analysis projects and assignments including the implications of plant operating characteristics on market bidding decisions and protocols. Supports the plants characteristics data process to assemble, validate and present Calpine's plant characteristics for use in forecasting and business decision analysis; analysis of the commercial implications of deviations or improvements to plan performance in conjunction with Power Operations and the Commodity Margin analysis group; and, analyzes macro market assumptions regarding competitive technology plan operating characteristics including cost/benefit analysis of new construction and/or upgrades.

  • Manages employees performing related duties including full human resources, cost and budgetary accountabilities
  • Decisions typically related to resources, project approach, and tactical operations.
  • Results have significant impact on costs and the achievement of function objectives or project-based goals.
  • Makes decisions for large-scale projects, a closely related set of projects and initiatives involving own and possibly related functional areas.
  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines tactical approach, resources, schedules and goals.
  • Works within general guidelines; applies advanced technical knowledge to solve moderately complex problems for a function.
  • Leads team in specifying and using data structures to assemble, track and distribute plant operating results
  • Manages a single function or portion of a department. Regularly manages large-scale projects/activities or a very closely related set of projects/activities.
  • Responsible for performance reviews, promotional decisions, and pay actions for support and professional levels.
  • Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering or Information Technology or equivalent. Prefer graduate degree.
  • Previous work leadership or senior level contributor experience.
  • Typically requires minimum of 10+ years in area of specialization including experience using automated data analysis tools similar to NERC, GADS or PI systems to report plan performance.
  • Advanced database management, Excel and Access skills including custom reporting. IT development background preferred to support corporate data structure management and report development.
