The Packaging Procurement Manager is responsible for vendor relationship development to deliver the best cost and highest quality materials that are delivered on time to the designated location. This position will work closely with Merchants, Regulatory Compliance, Engineering, and Purchasing to drive the development of the projects from inception throughout the life of the product, matching the specifications of the Merchants with capabilities of the Vendor, focusing on efficiency, flexibility, and cost. This position will oversee the relationship with the vendor when issues arise and will work to resolve them while partnering with Purchasing, QA, Receiving, Engineering, Accounting and Production. This position is located in Columbus OH, Chicago IL, or Medford, OR.

  • Align the specifications of Engineering and the Merchant teams with the capabilities of the supplier.
  • Interpret and enhance Engineering and Merchant input on specifications and requirements for projects.
  • Manage each item as a project and continue momentum through the development cycle to deliver on agreed upon timelines.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationship with supplier to manage day to day and strategic alignment between the business and supplier.
  • Establish legal supplier agreements and terms and conditions with the supplier.
  • Use SAP and Oracle MRP to determine material requisitions, MOQs, quantity discounts and timing of needed materials.
  • Determine best purchasing, delivery and timing strategy based upon business constraints and financial impact of the product.
  • Manage and work with the Buying team to place and ensure delivery of all purchase orders with the suppliers, and transfers between production locations.
  • Manage any supply exceptions and determine resolution to supply, vendor, and payment issues.
  • Collaborate with merchants, Production, Buyers, and Supplier to communicate any downstream or upstream impacts that may occur from disruptions in supply chain.
  • Manage order cycles and stocking levels relative to shelf life of product.
  • Understand supply and demand between production and storage facilities.
  • Bring about business solutions that are in the best interest of the Company while creating and maintaining a vendor relationship built upon cooperation and mutual interests.


Education - Minimum 4-year Bachelor's degree in business, or related field.

Experience -
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a combination of the following related areas: Third Party Manufacturing, Supply Chain Planning, Procurement, Buying, Supply Chain Sourcing
  • Proven track record of driving savings and synergies with outside sources
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to influence across functional levels
  • Strong project management
  • Negotiating contracts and costs
  • Use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Experience evaluation between the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Experience purchasing and negotiating.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products with a strong level of Excel
