Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Set the Retail Media Agenda: Identify and prioritize opportunities to address key challenges in retail media, including measurement, scalability, cross-platform integration, and standardization.
- Launch & Grow the Commerce Board: Oversee the creation and strategic direction of this new advisory group, ensuring it serves as a hub for innovation and collaboration.
- Industry Thought Leadership: Develop research, frameworks, and action plans on emerging trends (e.g., commerce media, social commerce, in-store ad tech, omnichannel attribution) to guide members.
- Lead Member Councils & Committees: Shape and drive IAB's Retail Media Network Council and other key initiatives, aligning all efforts toward a cohesive industry growth agenda.
Standards & Best Practices
- Develop Industry Guidelines: Define, publish, and promote best practices that foster consistency, trust, and efficiency across retail media networks and commerce platforms.
- Collaboration with IAB Tech Lab: Partner closely to create and drive adoption of technical standards, ensuring seamless integration of data, measurement, and addressability solutions.
- Global Alignment: Coordinate with organizations such as MRC, WFA, and other global bodies to harmonize measurement and data standards across markets.
Research & Market Insights
- Market-Making Studies: Work with IAB Research to design and release high-impact reports on retail media trends, commerce innovations, and consumer behaviors.
- ROI & Incrementally Metrics: Champion the development of frameworks to evaluate critical success metrics (e.g., ROI, incrementality) for commerce and retail media.
- Audience & Creative Standards: Collaborate with IAB Tech Lab to establish standards in audience taxonomy, creative specifications, and sponsored product ads.
Member Support & Engagement
- Education & Workshops: Develop and deliver training programs that equip members with the tools and insights needed to excel in retail media, data collaboration, and commerce strategies.
- Resource & Advisory: Serve as a key resource for members, offering guidance on best practices, challenges, and opportunities in the commerce media space.
- Thought Leadership Representation: Represent IAB at industry events, conferences, and panels-amplifying our members' interests and the IAB perspective.
- Commerce Board Launch: Collaborate with the Member Engagement Department to drive Commerce Board membership recruitment and launch efforts.
Operational Excellence
- COE Oversight: Direct the operations, staffing, and financial performance of the Commerce & Retail Media Center of Excellence, ensuring efficient processes and high member value.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Align with other IAB Centers of Excellence (Media, Experience, Measurement, and AI) to drive integrated, cross-industry solutions.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor key metrics and milestones for the Center, adjusting strategies and resources to achieve desired outcomes on schedule and within budget.
Requirements & Qualifications
Industry Expertise
- 10+ Years of Experience: Proven track record in advertising, retail media, commerce, or related fields-demonstrating strategic leadership and large-scale initiative execution.
- Retail Media & E-commerce Insight: Deep knowledge of retail media networks, e-commerce platforms, omnichannel strategies, and data-driven marketing approaches.
- Market Relationships: Existing network of brands, agencies, retailers, and technology providers within the commerce and retail media landscape.
Skills & Capabilities
- Strategic Vision: Ability to identify emerging trends, create strategic frameworks, and guide members toward scalable solutions.
