About the Opportunity
The Nursery Strategy Manager will be instrumental to Driscoll's Nursery's growth in North America. They will support a variety of Nursery initiatives across US, Canada and Central Mexico and help establish and execute the short, medium, and long-term strategic plans. The Nursery Strategy Manager will report to the Director of Nursery Strategy & Planning and work closely together with leadership, including Nursery Leadership, Product Leadership and Finance Leadership in Driscoll's of the Americas (DOTA). There will also be exposure with Strategy and Project updates provided to Senior Company Leadership including the CEO, COO and CFO.
The work of the Nursery Strategy Manager will involve strategy development, program management and reporting. They will collaborate with colleagues across the value chain, driving progress on cross-functional projects and initiatives. They will support the Nursery throughout DOTA and be a strategic business partner for the Nursery Leadership team.
The Nursery Strategy Manager will support the end-to-end development of the Nursery's most crucial strategies, including but not limited to the Nursery Performance Initiative, Make vs. Buy Operations Strategy, and Container Plant Future. Initiatives they could be working on include alternative plant types, capital investment plans, future automation, organic nursery and nursery digitization. These are all topics that pose high-level, complex challenges and will require excellent analytical skills to translate raw information into actionable strategies as well as the ability to bring together insights from different parts of the organization.
The role is an excellent way to get to know Driscoll's total value chain and the many nursery and supply regions across North America.
Responsibilities
Refresh all core nursery strategies (e.g. Container, Organic, Clean Stock, Land, etc.)
Develop new nursery strategies where needed (e.g. Long Canes, Automation, Make vs. Buy, etc.)
Prepare quarterly execution updates of each Nursery strategy
Support development of Nursery Performance Initiative (NPI) workstreams
Prepare monthly and quarterly executive updates on NPI
Engage in building a future state of improved nursery systems, data and reporting
Partner with Product Leadership and Supply Directors during annual supply plant development, variety planning process (DVS) and newer plant type economic analysis
Support Nursery Leadership Team with Annual Operating Plan development
Define, develop and report on Nursery Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Partner with Nursery Planning and Nursery Finance on development and reporting of Nursery unit costs
Lead development of 5 to 10-year Nursery investment plan
Support capital expenditure request (CER) development for key Nursery investments
Domestic and international travel required up to 25%
Represents Driscoll's in an ethical and business-like professional manner in all interactions with growers, co-workers, suppliers, customers and the business community at large
Candidate Profile
Requirements
An excellent academic foundation that includes a bachelor's in a relevant field
5+ years in strategy and/or business development experience
Strong analytical and financial skills
Previous experience with Executive Communication
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
Strong collaboration skills, ability to organize and share information with a customer focused mindset
Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects or tasks at the same time
Reliability, attention to detail, and accuracy are a must
Should be self-motivated and able to work independently
Strong Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel; candidate's PowerPoint skills must be advanced beyond basic slide making and include experience in storyboard development
Familiarity with Access, Tableau, and ERP functionality
Must have the ability to learn new software and technologies quickly
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual communication skills in Spanish are preferred but not required
Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams throughout the organization and effectively work through others
Valid driver's license and the ability to be covered under company-sponsored vehicle insurance program
A valid passport and the ability to travel internationally without restrictions
Compensation & Benefits:

The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate is dependent upon experience, skills, education, work location, internal pay equity, and other objective job-related factors.
Salary Range estimated for the Nursery Strategy Manager: $100,600 to $135,900 USD.
