Reporting to the VP Finance, the Director, Finance plays a crucial role overseeing aspects of the corporate budget (including capital and corporate admin expenses), financial reporting, accounting operations, and regulatory compliance. As a strategic partner to executive management, this role oversees budgeting, financial modeling, and reporting to help the company achieve its revenue and growth objectives. This position also ensures the timely closure and reporting of monthly financials, manages the company's audits and tax-related matters as well as maintains control policies and procedures to safeguard the company's assets.

Key Accountabilities:

Corporate Controllership
  • Lead the month end close process to ensure accurate financial results
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all monthly, quarterly and annual financial information while adhering to established corporate reporting deadlines and requirements
  • Collaborate with auditing services and tax teams to ensure proper compliance with all regulations
  • Maintain an adequate system of accounting records by monitoring corporate balance sheet accounts and ensuring comprehensive set of controls are designed to mitigate risk.
  • Oversee cash and payable operations for corporate bank accounts


Financial Planning and Budgeting
  • Lead the annual financial planning and budgeting processes to align with organizational objectives and strategic initiatives
  • Oversee and manage capital planning, allocation, execution processes and standards ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
  • Work closely with department heads to gather relevant data and assumptions for accurate budget preparation
  • Provide guidance and support in setting financial targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) for the organization


Financial Forecasting and Analysis
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models to forecast future financial performance, identify trends, and analyze variance
  • Perform in-depth financial analysis to assess business performance, profitability, and efficiency, and recommend improvements to drive financial growth and sustainability
  • Provide data-driven and actionable insights from regular and ad-hoc analysis


Corporate Administration Expense Management
  • Manage and control all corporate administrative expenses
  • Establish and enforce appropriate internal controls, policies, and procedures for the approval of all expenditures.
  • Analyze departmental budgets; scrutinize extra-budgetary spendings while providing insights on cost-saving opportunities without affecting productivity.
  • Regularly monitor, analyze, and report on admin expenses to executive leadership; enable strategic decision-making through accurate financial forecasting models highlighting potential risks or opportunities in admin expense management.


Leadership & General Management
  • Serve as the first point of contact and main finance business partner for executive management
  • Meet with executive management regularly to report on financial results
  • Participate regularly in meetings providing financial guidance and support as needed
  • Manage business expectations and set priorities as appropriate
  • Develop strong cross-functional partnerships and relationships to support key critical initiatives
  • Mentor and coach team members in achieving their goals, provide feedback and address any performance issues
  • Continuously recommend and implement operational improvement initiatives to increase the effectiveness and productivity of the department

Role Requirements:
  • A Post-Secondary education in Accounting, Finance or related field is required
  • CPA designation preferred
  • Over 10 years of experience in an accounting or FP&A role
  • Over 5 years experience leading and managing teams
  • Have proven success in a finance business partner role
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset through agile and flexible working style, openness to feedback and resilience in working through business challenges
  • Demonstrates strong financial acumen and proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and financial analysis tools
  • Excellent communication (verbal, written and comprehension) and presentation skills
  • Proven collaboration skills with the ability to influence internal/external stakeholders
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize numerous tasks with conflicting deadlines
