Overall responsibilities:
This position involves crafting and disseminating compelling messages to target audiences through various channels. Responsibilities include creating content for press releases, social media, and websites; building relationships with media outlets; managing public relations efforts; and overseeing brand messaging consistency. Strategic marketing skills are required to develop and execute long-term plans that align with overall business objectives. These skills include market analysis, identifying target audiences, positioning products or services, competitive analysis, brand management, pricing strategies, and marketing campaign planning.

Location-
This position is remote and may require travel occasionally to Fairwinds facilities or as needed for the duties of the job.

This is a full time, exempt position.

The day-to-day:
- Observe and analyze the market to identify potential customers, competitors, and industry trends to inform the sales team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Business Development, Operations, Contracts, Finance, and Engineering, to develop compelling and competitive marketing strategies.
- Monitor and assess the competitive landscape, tracking competitor activities.
- Work with management to generate and maintain a marketing strategy.
- Assist the business development team with planning customer contacts to optimize information gathering and opportunity influencing.
- Understand the target market, including its needs, preferences, and behaviors. Identify competitors and analyze market trends.
- Determine how new products will be positioned in the market relative to competitors. Highlight unique selling points and value propositions.
- Define the specific demographics and segments of consumers who are most likely to purchase Fairwinds' products and services.
- Create a comprehensive marketing strategy, including product, price, place, and promotion. Decide on pricing strategies, distribution channels, and promotional tactics.
- Use various communication channels, such as advertising, public relations, social media, and content marketing to generate awareness and interest in the company's efforts.
- Implement metrics to track the effectiveness of marketing efforts and adjust strategies as needed based on performance data and customer feedback.
- Continuously monitor market trends, customer preferences, and competitor actions to refine marketing strategies.
Position requirements:
- Min 5 years of experience in marketing
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business or equivalent
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and interpret market and customer data to inform marketing strategies.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas and concepts clearly and persuasively.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines without compromising on quality.
- A willingness to travel as needed to meet with customers and end users.
- Ability and willingness to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Ideal work location in the Washington, DC, area (but open to other remote locations).
- Familiarity marketing to Federal Government agencies and programs
