The Education and Labor Cabinet is seeking to fill an Assistant Director II position located within theDepartment of Workers' Claims, Division of Specialist and Medical Services.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Five years of administrative or management experience, two of which must include direct supervision of personnel.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:A master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:Additional administrative, management, or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):NONE
Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting. Minimal travel may be required.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.

The Education and Labor Cabinet is seeking to fill an Assistant Director II position located within theDepartment of Workers' Claims, Division of Specialist and Medical Services.
Skills and Expectations include, but are not limited to:
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, and work cooperatively with a team.
- Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and a history of workingwith databases and reports.
- Must be a licensed attorney with experience in Workers' Compensation law.
- 2 years of supervisory expierience.
- Provides assistance to the Division Director by providing supervision to the division staff. Preparesmaterials for director to utilize in meetings within and outside of the agency. Assists Director and providestechnical assistance to the organizational unit on matters dealing with policies, procedures, and training forstaff. Acts as liaison between division and other organizations.
- Serves as Ombudsman. Serves as a source of information for employees, employers, medical, vocational,and rehabilitation personnel, carriers, and self-insurers. Responds to inquiries and complaints relative to theworkers' compensation program. Advises all parties of their rights and obligations under statutes, rules, andregulations. Assists with obtaining claim documents.
- Provides feedback, correction, and suggestions in accordance with statutes and regulations.Distributes, assigns and reviews work product of staff members, including RFAs, telecommuting log sheets, weekly reports tomonitor efforts to increase efficiency and effectiveness of division activities.
- Conducts, implements, and attends professional meetings. Attends training/conferences on behalf of thedivision. Receives and responds to inquiries regarding statutes/regulations, including inquiries regardingthe medical fee schedule/billing, hospital cost-to-charge ration, LMS, rehabilitation and drug-free workplacethat pertain to KY Workers' Compensation Laws.
- Conducts employee performance evaluations and makes recommendations relative to personnel actions.Reviews monthly and annual reports. Conducts special projects as needed. Provides direct supervision,including approval of leave requests and timesheets, and completion of performance evaluations of employees.
- Participates in administrative hearings on behalf of the department, as directed. Keeps staff andmanagement informed of any changes and/or laws that affect work of Division. Recommends and drafts suggestedstatute regulation changes; conducts public education seminars. Completes research on methods to improveworkflow and productivity.
