Description:
Tesla is looking for a Data Engineer to help build the data infrastructure required for running the battery field return and failure analysis process. In this role, you will develop the applications and data pipelines which collect and store data from multiple data sources, interact with various factory systems to track return pack status, and provide observability into the process. You would be responsible for building out data pipelines which support failure diagnosis, root cause analysis, and data health monitoring as well as support the development of services which determine FA status through the process. Failure analysis is a multi-step process, and in this role you will be working with various cross functional teams to build the systems required to collect and analyze data to determine failure mode, and to automate various engineering tasks to assist technicians eventually identify root causes.

Responsibilities
- Work closely with Field Reliability teams to set up automated alerts and monitoring dashboards for returning batteries
- Work closely with Cell Quality teams to facilitate data-driven decision making through tools which make data accessible and analyses reproducible
- Implement features in data pipelines and engineering tools to improve failure analysis process with better data accessibility and user experience
- Contribute to software testing and continuous deployment process
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Chemical Engineering, related quantitative discipline, or equivalent experience
- Direct experience working in manufacturing industry
- Proficiency in SQL and Python stack (e.g. FastAPI, pandas, Jupyter, matplotlib, NumPy, SciPy)
- Familiarity with data pipelines, REST/gRPC APIs, database fundamentals, CI/CD is preferred
- Experience with Git or other source control software
- Strong communication skills to translate engineering questions into data/software requirements

- Expected Compensation$108,000 - $186,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefitsPay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
