About the role:
KalVista is seeking a Sr. Manager, Medical Communications and Training to lead the medical congress strategy development and planning, coordination, and execution of all aspects of medical initiatives at congresses. This individual will also lead and coordinate medical training and education. This position will be an integral part of the sebetralstat launch team by ensuring the medical teams are prepared for scientific engagements with the appropriate training and education and that the company has meaningful and impactful scientific presence at congresses across the globe. This individual will report directly to the Head of Scientific Communications and be part of the Medical Communications team and the broader Medical Affairs organization within KalVista. Additionally, this position will contribute to the development of and support the execution of the Medical Communications plan for sebetralstat.

Responsibilities:
- Develop an impactful medical strategy and plan for congresses and training that are aligned cross-functionally
- Plan, coordinate, and execute all aspects of the medical initiatives at congresses working with internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure medical accuracy of contents, timely delivery of medical initiatives and training and pull-through for key stakeholders
- Manage agency partners to ensure development of deliverables are accurate, compliant, timely, and aligned to the budget
- Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive medical communications plan for congresses and a medical training plan with a well thought out end-to-end approach, aligning with cross-functional stakeholders, and collaborating cross-functionally
- Lead the medical congress planning meetings to ensure all activities within medical are highly coordinated
- Develop medical content and materials for congresses including innovative presentations and interactive solutions
- Ensure timely delivery and medical training of high quality, clear and impactful medical communications deliverables
- Capture achievements and key learnings through meaningful metrics
- Ensure that medical/scientific communications activities are compliant and have undergone the appropriate review process
- Lead the development/design of the Medical Affairs booth at congresses
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop content of medical symposia at congresses and ensure flawless execution
- Lead and coordinate the medical pre-congress meetings to provide training on medical content and prepare the medical team
- Oversee congress on-site medical activities to ensure flawless execution
- Lead and coordinate the medical post-congress meetings to learn from insights gathered and debrief on congress activities and identify actions
- Manage approved agencies for congresses and medical training, ensuring quality, compliance, and budgetary requirements are met
- Track tactical timelines and associated budgets
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Contribute to and support the development and execution of the Medical Communication plan including non-congress related tactics where needed
- Maintain a thorough understanding of industry trends, best practices, and emerging innovations in congresses and medical trainings for continued improvements
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Business operations, or related field: a BA/BS with minimum 7 years of relevant experience, an MBA/MS with minimum 5 years of relevant medical experience, PhD/PharmD with minimum 2 years of experience, or an MD with minimum 1 years of experience
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in managing medical congresses
- Proven history in supporting teams and designing strategies to enhance engagement with Healthcare Professionals at congresses
- Experience providing training and education to medical teams including MSLs
- Experience working with medical directors to provide content training and education
- General understanding of regulatory compliance, data privacy, and industry standards related to role
- Experience with Medical Affairs and Medical/Scientific Communication practices and processes; Launch experience preferred in rare disease
- Experience in innovative medical communications and congress programs
- Experience in Medical Affairs platforms such as Veeva Med Comms
- Exceptional project management skills and financial acumen
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Strong vendor relationship management skills
- Ability to influence and work with cross-functional teams to deliver complex projects
- Knowledge of Global Medical Affairs in the Pharmaceutical/Biotech Industry
- Experience working in the rare disease space preferred
- Experience working on medical congresses highly preferred
- Experience with providing medical training and education preferred
- Experience working with cross-functional teams preferred
- Experience working in Medical Affairs preferred
- Familiarity with content management systems and digital analytics tools preferred
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare industry trends for congresses and medical training and education preferred
