JOB SUMMARY-
The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will work with the Transplant Surgery team and provide comprehensive care to surgical patients as well as pre and post abdominal transplant patient population .The APP will have an opportunity to practice autonomously and collaboratively within their established scope. All TGH team members are responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values in accordance with Tampa General Hospital. The APP will work closely with the attending physician and other members of the healthcare team. Schedule is 4-10 hour shifts 6AM to 4PM with rotating weekends and holidays. This includes both hospital and clinic rotation.
RESPONSIBILITIES-
Requests, interprets and evaluates diagnostic and laboratory tests and takes appropriate actions as medically indicated in accordance with departmental protocols. Identifies and reports any specific signs and symptoms, problems or potential problems requiring further assessment, communication and/or intervention to promote positive outcomes.
Pre and Post operative evaluation of surgical patient
Provide comprehensive care based Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG's).
Prescribe medications and other treatments as appropriate
Collaborate with the healthcare team
Educate patients and their families about their condition and treatment option
Maintain accurate and complete documentation of patient care in the medical record
Participate in policy, protocol, and guideline development and revision
Participate in education, quality initiatives and research project
Participate in daily rounding and MDR
Management of transplant patient population including immunosuppression
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Demonstrates current knowledge and level of expertise utilizing evidence and theory-based practice, infection control standards and clinical evaluations in providing care to clients in clinic or hospital-based settings, as evidenced by following established protocols.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and electronic medical records (EMR) systems, preferably Epic
Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Outstanding customer service and conflict resolution abilities.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Current licensure as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant in the State of Florida.
Acute Care or Adult Gerontology Acute Care board certification
National certification is required for PAs.
