Summary:
The VP, CFO, Ballad Health Medical Associates will serve as the CFO for employed physician services/practices and service lines for Ballad Health Medical Associates. As a member of the administrative staff, the CFO participates in formulating long term strategic and business plans that support and promote the Ballad Health mission, vision, and values. The CFO will be responsible for driving the long-term financial success of the clinical practices/service lines through aggressive cost containment and revenue growth. They will work with Ballad Health Medical Associates' practices and hospital-based employed physician practices, supported by the markets and facilities. The CFO will be responsible for providing financial leadership and analytics to support business decisions. The position requires a high energy, self-starter to drive change and build consensus. They must understand key principles of health care finance, and be current on industry trends, reimbursement methodology and upcoming changes in the industry. Additionally, they should be comfortable providing operational leadership to areas outside of traditional finance.
This leader will prepare and present financial information to a variety of audiences (corporate and market leaders, BHMA board, service-line leaders, physicians, community boards, department managers, etc.). Additionally, this leader will work closely with the central business office on charge master, collections, contractual adjustments, and other revenue cycle functions to ensure maximum performance. The CFO will coordinate and prepare an annual budget in conjunction with CEO and COO. This individual will demonstrate an understanding of financial contracts and work closely with CEO on areas of opportunity. This leader should be comfortable leading negotiating efforts or providing financial support on contract matters.
The CFO will coordinate month end close, meeting all internal deadlines. Also, coordinate post-close management reports and action plans. This leader will function as the hub of all financial activity inside the medical group, offering assistance and guidance to other members of the management team. The CFO will publish quarterly service line performance reports for key service lines. Additionally, the CFO will provide general, non-financial leadership on special projects and to non-finance departments reporting to CFO. The CFO will engage and coach the operational teams on "focused review" to review their action plans to improve performance. The CFO will serve as a financial liaison and the VP/CFO for Market Operations for Ballad Health Medical Associates.
Requirements:
Master's Degree in Business Administration, with a major in Finance or Accounting. Prior experience as a CFO is strongly preferred, but not required. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, highly motivated individual with a proven track record of success. A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible supervision/management experience, at least 5 years of which should be at a department director level in a health care setting. Strong computer skills and interpersonal skills are a must. The incumbent will be required to update professional expertise, and to develop management/leadership skills through continuing education throughout tenure in this position. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
