Description:

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Clinical Health and Wellness provides clinical leadership in the planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation of services for Services and Housing In the Province (SHIP). They work cross functionally in partnership with other SHIP departments and implement specific initiatives that support the overall organizational strategy to achieve our mission and vision. The role builds and maintains relationships with key external partners to ensure our clients and their families receive evidence based, integrated, high quality and safe services.

The Director of Clinical Health and Wellness is an active member of the Senior Leadership Team and oversees a number of Program Managers who support community mental health and community wellness along with a number of other program portfolios. They are responsible for driving SHIP's Clinical Service Plan through implementing the strategies and initiatives that accelerate progress towards deepening the health outcomes of our clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic
  • Integrates SHIPs vision, mission and values
  • Translates strategic goals into practical actions
  • Provides strategic leadership and direction to the organization in the provision of clinical services by fostering and promoting new initiatives and interpreting and implementing best practices related to housing and support
  • Negotiate potential strategic partnerships and joint proposals that support SHIPs objectives

Leadership
  • Member and/or Lead Member of key Committees including but not limited to Clinical Leadership Committee, The Learning Committee, Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), Strategic Planning, Sessionals, Employee Resource Groups, and more
  • Builds and supports sustainable and productive relationships with all individuals including staff, senior management, the community, clients and families
  • Assists in the design, implementation and evaluation of care delivery models
  • Lead SHIPs internal Community of Practice(s)
  • Defines and assesses factors that have the potential to create risk
  • Establishes and monitors performance measures
  • Directs quality improvement plans by identifying and implementing changes in work process that produce measurable improvements
  • Applies information gathered through data analysis to assist in system planning and resource allocation
  • Acts as a key member in the collaborative design, development, roll out and operations of current and new programs and initiatives
  • Serves as project lead or participant in SHIP community initiatives and system integration projects
  • Participates in external committees on service initiatives, and liaises with other regional service providers to promote seamless transition to services
  • Participates in public speaking opportunities on mental health and addictions, housing, homelessness as required.

Operational
  • Lead service teams to meet objectives and program requirements
  • Ensures high quality services and client, family and staff safety
  • Oversee the creation and management of departmental budgets and provide guidance to program managers for the management of program budgets, being able to explain variances.
  • Other duties/project as required by the CEO

Qualifications:
  • Post-Secondary Degree in related health care such as Social Work, Psychotherapy, or other regulated health professional field, with current professional registration (master's degree is essential)
  • 5+ years' experience working in a Senior Management/leadership role overseeing a Program/Service/team/s
  • Prior experience leading clinical services in a community-based mental health or child and youth services setting is strongly preferred
  • Proven background/experience displaying positive outcomes based upon objectives
  • Related experience in housing and health programs
  • Extensive experience in a senior managerial capacity
  • Evidence of experience with implementing evidenced based practices
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision in a team environment
  • Project Management and program development experience
  • Demonstrated ability to assist clients, family members or other clients with concern and empathy, respecting their confidentiality and privacy and communicating in a courteous and respectful manner
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment

Reporting Function:

The Director of Clinical Health and Wellness will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). They will oversee the Community Mental Health and Community Wellness programs including but not limited to: ACTT, Central Intake and Access, Clinical Strategy and Planning and Community Development.

They are a key member of the Senior Leadership Team and will be an advocator for SHIP. They work with both internal and external stakeholders and interact with all levels of the Organization.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
  • SHIP operates, where possible and appropriate, within a hybrid work environment. The Director will be required to work both in the office and in the community, as well as attending some of SHIP's clinical locations.
  • Day shifts (Monday - Friday) with the ability to work excess/overtime hours where required
  • Able to work well with internal and external clients
  • Able to drive, walk (site locations) regularly
  • Travel by vehicle to community sites for client support as required
