Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC) has an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Practice Provider to join our growing academic electrophysiology (EP) practice. As part of the prestigious Penn Cardiac Care team, we are dedicated to our mission of providing the highest level of care to patients. Working for this leading academic medical center means that you will be collaborating with top clinical, technical and business professionals across all disciplines.
This position requires a background in cardiology and a willingness to provide quality care in collaboration with physicians, nursing staff and other members of the multidisciplinary care team. Our team includes twelve NPs/PAs who provide the highest quality care alongside six EP physicians and other members of the health care team. Distinct functions of the position include performance of cardioversions, pacemaker and ICD interrogations, pre and post procedure management of advanced arrhythmia patients, consults, clinical decision-making and patient management of inpatients and outpatients including antiarrhythmic pharmacotherapy and patient / family education. This position has an inpatient and outpatient component and is located on the PPMC campus. This NP/PA service provides training and support for your success.
All Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants function under the guidelines designed by the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center medical staff and are credentialed through that body. The CRNP or PA hired by the Department of Advanced Practice will be held accountable through a formal job description, the delineation of privileges and their agreement with their collaborating/supervising physician who has initiated a Collaborative Practice Agreement. All clinical work hours and associated requirements will be defined and managed under the direction of the collaborating physician/division designee, and within the Human Resource guidelines.
Program highlights from the past year:
>400 A-Fib ablations
>200 SVT/VT ablations
>700 device implants
>150 Watchman procedures
Required credentials:
Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant with a Masters, current licensure or eligibility in the Commonwealth of PA and eligibility for credentialing by the medical board required.
BLS/CPR, as a healthcare provider as per the American Heart Association (for providers in the ambulatory setting)
ACLS (for providers in acute care setting)
PA CRNP licensure or Physician assistant licensure
PA Prescriptive Authority
Registered Nurse - PA licensure (if applicant is a CRNP)
Preference to candidates with experience. If new to practice in Advanced Practice, previous experience in Cardiology is preferred.
Education or Equivalent Experience:
Master of Arts or Science (Required)
The APP must be reviewed by the Credentials Committee and approved by the Medical Board.
Education Specialization: Master's Degree or Doctor of Nursing Practice(DNP) in Nursing or Physician Assistant with a Master's Degree
Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts - weekdays
