About the job
This candidate will lead the strategy, execution, and growth of Hatch's digital commerce and marketing efforts. This role is responsible for driving revenue and customer engagement through a data-driven, omnichannel approach that integrates acquisition and retention marketing, management of paid media, eCommerce strategy. In this role, you will lead the strategy and execution for eCommerce site operations, digital marketing, and performance initiatives to drive growth and deliver an exceptional, on-brand customer experience for HATCH.
You'll own both performance marketing and eCommerce management, optimizing site operations, merchandising, promotions, and content updates to align with the brand's premium positioning, seasonal campaigns, and customer needs. This includes prioritizing technical and design enhancements and identifying new ways to increase revenue and engagement.
This role also oversees performance-driven marketing efforts across acquisition and retention channels, analyzing data to inform growth strategies and ensure continuous evolution. You'll collaborate closely with creative, marketing, planning, and merchandising teams to deliver consistent messaging across all digital touchpoints and drive a cohesive customer journey.

What you'll do
eCommerce Strategy & Operations
- Align cross-functional teams (design, product, merchandising, and marketing) from product adoption to go-to-market strategies, ensuring seasonal and weekly eCommerce business activities are deployed on time.
- Guide the vision for end-to-end digital customer experiences, focusing on site merchandising, UX/UI, personalization, and performance optimization across HATCH's digital ecosystem.
- Collaborate with merchants to oversee high-level merchandising strategies, implementing processes and data-driven approaches to improve site merchandising and content management.
- Collaborate with product and marketing teams to continuously enhance HATCH website and drive innovation and performance across the digital shopping experience.
Retention Marketing & Customer Lifecycle Management
- Oversee the retention marketing manager to ensure successful execution of email and SMS communications across campaigns and flows, ensuring alignment with brand needs and customer journey stages.
- Lead the development of a robust customer retention strategy, including segmentation, cohort analysis, and reporting on KPIs like repeat purchase rate, customer lifetime value (LTV), and file health.
- Provide strategic oversight for customer touchpoints, ensuring that all email, SMS, and transactional communications are optimized for engagement, deliverability, and effectiveness.
- Support list growth and acquisition strategies through on-site forms, pop-ups, and partnerships while ensuring first-party data is used effectively.
Performance Marketing & Digital Campaign Management
- Lead the strategy, execution, and day-to-day management of performance marketing channels and agency partners in paid search, paid social, affiliate, and re-targeting/marketing campaigns.
- Help drive the planning and execution of 360 marketing campaigns, ensuring alignment with brand goals and ROI optimization.
- Manage vendor and agency relationships, to ensure efficiency and brand alignment.
- Analyze campaign performance to identify opportunities for optimization, delivering actionable insights and recommendations.
- Stay on top of industry trends and emerging channels, identifying new opportunities for growth and innovation.
Analytics & Reporting
- Utilize advanced analytics tools to track, report, and optimize digital performance.
- Lead the development of a data-driven culture within the digital function, ensuring insights inform strategies across all channels.
- Produce comprehensive reports (weekly, monthly, and ad hoc) to track KPIs, evaluate performance, and guide ongoing decision-making.
Budget Management & Forecasting
- Manage the digital marketing and eCommerce budget, ensuring alignment with financial goals and accurate forecasting.
- Oversee campaign spend tracking, invoicing, and reconciliation processes, working closely with internal teams to maintain balanced financials.
- Support long-term performance forecasting for ecomm, paid media and digital channels.
What you'll bring
- BS/BA degree with 7+ years of experience in e-commerce, digital marketing, or multichannel retail.
- Proven leadership skills, with a track record of managing, developing, and mentoring high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated expertise in performance marketing and e-commerce site management, including driving growth through digital campaigns, optimizing site experiences, and analyzing performance metrics.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify opportunities, and implement actionable strategies to drive business results.
- Creative problem-solving skills, with an eye for balancing premium brand positioning and performance goals.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, adept at prioritizing multiple projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Advanced knowledge of digital platforms and tools, including CMS platforms, analytics software (e.g., Google Analytics, Business Objects), and marketing channels (paid search, social, email).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas clearly and inspire cross-functional teams.
- Strong preference for candidates with shopify experience
