Description:

As a Manufacturing Engineer- Pilot at Tesla you will be working with new vehicle platforms and will be responsible for low volume equipment/process design and implementation as well as supporting transition from low volume to high volume production which includes line and equipment integration, commissioning and production buy offs. You will be working with highly motivated and talented cross functional teams on multiple projects to support smooth launch and ramp of new products.

Responsibilities
  • Lead design for manufacturing studies collaborate with vendors one new equipment builds
  • Review simulation for design and process Support with designing equipment and process for low volume production lines
  • Manage project schedules, identify risks and opportunities, and ensure all necessary activities are in place to meet deadlines
  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams during product development. Collaborating with Controls engineering to ensure equipment is built to Tesla standards
  • 20% Travel Requirement for Domestic and International travel for Equipment FATs
  • On-site Commissioning of Equipment using factory and site acceptance testing
  • Make/buy/ROI analyses as required and validating external suppliers using PPAP
  • Planning sufficient capacity to meet business targets for production output


Requirements
  • Proficient in Design for manufacturing (DFM) Studies
  • Demonstrates leadership, teamwork & communication skills
  • Knowledge of production & quality control procedures
  • Strong time management skills Able to work with multiple teams & establish / maintain supplier relationships & performance
  • 3-5+ years of working experience defining assembly processes and equipment design
  • 2+ years of Equipment Troubleshooting experience 3D Modeling (CATIA/ SOLIDWORKS) to design fixtures, Assemblies clash studies
  • Comfortable in leading diverse multi-functional team
  • Proficient in basic software (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Minitab, JMP, etc.)
