Broughton Hospital, a state psychiatric hospital serving the Western Region of North Carolina, is recruiting for full-time Adolescent Psychiatrist. Our 24-hour in-patient facility serves adolescent, adult, deaf, and geriatric patients; however, this position focuses on our Adolescent population.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Initial psychiatric assessments
-Establishing diagnoses and formulating treatment plans and recommendations
-Medication Management including psychotropic drug reviews for the SPMI population
-Participating on or leading a multidisciplinary team that includes psychology, social work, pharmacy, nursing and other therapeutic disciplines
-Managing the day-to-day responsibilities of an inpatient unit to include documentation of progress, court papers and education of patients and families
-Consultation with outside medical staff as indicated

This position works with a varied group of professional disciplines and may coordinate clinical training and research efforts.

The normal work hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. However, flexible work schedules will be considered. On-call coverage is required.

-Graduation from an accredited medical school and completion of psychiatry residency (or anticipated completion before job commencement)
-Professional knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients, as credentialed by the Medical Staff
Board Certification in Psychiatry

**Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus

Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:

A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).

An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
1. The employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);
2. The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;
3. Or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
