We are seeking a seasoned analyst to lead our Payments coverage and contribute to our Financial Services research. Reporting directly to the Principal Analyst, Banking, this high-profile role offers a unique opportunity to shape the conversation in the payments ecosystem, covering innovations, key players, and evolving consumer habits. You'll collaborate across the organization and represent EMARKETER as a thought leader through various channels, including industry events and media appearances.
This is a hybrid role working from our New York City HQ at One Liberty Plaza two times a week.

- Knowledgeable about the payments industry, with an understanding of its landscape, dynamics, and broader financial service trends.
- Skilled in writing and data analysis,bringing a structured approach to creating actionable insights
- Curious and adept at data storytelling, capable of identifying key insights across diverse data points.
- An exceptional communicator with a talent for concise, clearly organized, and impactful report writing.
- A team player who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is committed to organizational success.
- A networker with a strong LinkedIn presence who enjoys building connections with industry leaders and engaging on social media.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pitch, research, and produce insightful and data-driven analyses in a daily newsletter product centered on the marketing & media landscape.
- Create engaging data-centric charts and graphics that support your analysis and help tell stories.
- Understand the unique needs of a business audience in roles spanning brands, marketing, ad platforms, agencies & consultancies.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest current events by conducting research, attending events, etc.
- Establish a network of industry contacts to tap for future research.
- The writer/analyst of the Marketing & Advertising Briefing will be responsible for writing up to 3 short-form articles each day (300-400 words) and ad hoc content around newsbreaking events. This person will also contribute to long-form research reports on big company earnings each quarter.
Desired skills and experience:
- Proven expertise in the payments industry, including traditional and emerging payment methods, point-of-sale technology, and digital wallets.
- Strong public speaking skills with experience in client presentations, webinars, or media appearances.
- Exceptional writing and analytical abilities with proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience synthesizing data into actionable insights and creating compelling, story-driven presentations.
- Familiarity with data visualization techniques to support analysis and storytelling.
- Background in market research or a related field is a plus.
Salary & Benefits
- Base salary: $100,000-$120,000 (dependent on skills, experience, and competencies)
