THEROLE IN A NUTSHELL
The Director, Platforms & Tech Modernization will report to the Vice President of Cloud Modernization & IT Services and will focus on understanding and applying emerging, new, and existing technologies to transform and optimize business and technology solutions. The ideal candidate is passionate about technology and architecture, with a strong background in Cloud & Infrastructure and employee technology experience management. This position will lead the planning, design, and operationalization of digital and modernization/migration of core capabilities and technologies that directly impact our customers as well as employees.
The Director, Plaforms & Tech Modernization is responsible for leading and managing the Platforms (Cloud, Infrastructure, Core corporate technologies) practices across the broader enterprise and communicating the strategy and approach across the organization. This includes the management and day-to-day running of the Cloud / Infrastructure / Corporate technologies strategy, direction, communication, architecture, modernization and management, offering a portfolio of services to business leaders and enterprise stakeholders in a self-service model and creating an enhanced KPI-driven performance portfolio. The individual is responsible for defining the process, architecture and governance, and for leading the integration of those processes with related business and IT functions and programs.

- Infrastructure Architecture - deep experience in On-premise, Cloud, SaaS, Corporate (Servers, Network, End User Technologies), Modernization, security, data privacy
- Cloud, SaaS, Hybrid - primarily GCP & Azure, Engineering, migrations, SRE, operating models, FinOps, optimization
- Corporate Technologies (end user technologies, endpoints - primarily Microsoft technologies) - vision, strategy, End user support, architecture, security, execution
- Modernization - M&A integration, Service Management, Asset Management, employee / customer technology journey maps, automation, self-serve, AI
- Program Management - progam delivery, Agile, POC, stakeholder management, change management, financial management, assessment, roadmaps, executive presentations
- Focus on customer / employee experience as the basis for all technology and solution decisions, create customer / employee journey maps
- Drive deep stakeholder and business engagement with technology change management, drive optimum communication and engagement
- Facilitate business and IT alignment through capability modeling, driving the organization's business strategy and balancing innovation and growth.
- Lead the analysis of business and operating models, market trends and the technology industry to determine their potential impact on the enterprise's business strategy, and in turn architecture.
- Track and apply innovative technologies, anchoring them in the business and operating model to assess their potential; use agile and lean approaches to evolve and manage innovation.
- Develop diagnostics and actionable deliverables that help guide investment decisions.
- Build technology modernization, rationalization and decommissioning strategies, and associated impacts to business processes, people and costs. Advocate for these changes to secure senior leader buy-in
- Ensure the processes lead to a more efficient and effective business and IT operating model, significantly improved results (profitability, customer service, internal operations)
- Present gap analyses and integrated IT application, infrastructure and security investment roadmaps that reflect required transition to future-state business capabilities with a focus on digital enablement.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- University degree in business, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis or a related field of study, or equivalent experience
- Experienced in Infrastructure (on-premise, Cloud, SaaS) and End User / Corporate technologies with hands-on expertise with engineering, SRE.
- Knowledge of business ecosystems, software as a service (SaaS), infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), open data, event-driven IT and predictive analytics.
- Technology competency areas - Cloud Native, Microservices and APIs, Pipelines, DevOps, Custoemr experience
- Familiarity with information management practices, system development life cycle management, IT services management, agile and lean methodologies, infrastructure and operations, and ITIL frameworks
- Excellent written, verbal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate new ideas and concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Knowledge of business models, operating models, financial models, cost-benefit analysis, budgeting and risk management
- Understanding of cloud based architectural patterns and solutions, migration strategies, SRE models at an enterprise level.
- Organizationally savvy, and ability to navigate obstacles and drive alignment.
- Balance the long-term ("big picture") and short-term implications of individual decisions and organization goals
- Capable and able to balance between foundational state(modernizing the core of the IT estate, ensuring efficiency and predictability) and future state (business and operating model design, technology innovation, speed, agility and flexibility to meets the organization's needs)
- Trusted and respected as a thought leader who can influence and communicate effectively with business and IT leaders.
- Comfortable, experienced and accomplished at working with business executives, and able to push back in a professional and diplomatic way.
- Highly innovative with aptitude for foresight, systems thinking and design thinking.
- Practical in approach to problem solving and decision making.
- Practical experience in building high-performing teams, with a focus on multiple resourcing models - FTEs, contracting, consulting, offshoring, outsourcing
