This is a highly responsible position in the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet. The employee is expected toperform all duties to the best of their ability, act in a responsible manner at all times, demonstrateleadership qualities, and treat all staff, youth, and persons with respect. This is a demanding position thatrequires maturity, reliability, and self-discipline. Career growth and advancement are encouraged throughtraining and mentoring opportunities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:A master's degree in one of the behavioral or social sciences, education, public administration or a related field.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Must have five years of professional administrative experience in public or private social service programs or juvenile justice or correctional programs. Three years of the required experience must have been as a supervisor in a day treatment, group home, residential, or correctional facility for young adults (ages 12- 21)
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:A bachelor's degree supplemented by two years of professional administrative experience in public or private social service programs, juvenile justice or correctional programs will substitute for the master's degree.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):NONE
Working Conditions
Typically works in an office setting but will frequently travel to juvenile facilities in the assigned region.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 12 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Performs oversight duties relative to the day-to-day operations of assigned facilities/programs withinan assigned division.
- Provides direct supervision to assigned facilities/programs Superintendents.
- Assists with budget development, problem solving and provision of services.
- Provides direct supervisionto the superintendents of assigned facilities; evaluates employee performance and approved time andattendance: makes recommendations for needed personnel action including discipline.
- Conducts interviewprocess.
- Visits all assigned programs routinely as directed and monitors policies, regulations and otherrequirements to ensure compliance.
- Provides documentation as directed.
- Assists management in assigned programs; develops budgets, staffing patterns, Standard OperationProcedures, policy and youth placement procedures and alternatives.
- Makes recommendations for improvement.
- Reviews services of assigned facilities/programs and makes recommendations for change/improvement forquality services to youth.
- Conducts/attends trainings as required.
- Assumes and carries out the duties of the Division Director in their absence.
