Hi, I'm Cato, CEO at Loop, and I am hiring a Controller to manage accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. This role is an onsite position at our downtown Toronto office (Adelaide and Spadina).
Where You Come In
The Controller will have exposure to a variety of finance, accounting, reporting and treasury functions as well as supporting Loop's compliance and internal audit needs. You will be responsible for managing the company's accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
You will play a key role in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures, and provide critical support in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. The ideal candidate has a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and experience in a high-growth environment.

What You'll Be Doing
Accounting Management:
- Oversee all aspects of the accounting function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and tax compliance.
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial accounting process for consolidated and standalone operating and regulated entities
- Conduct complete, accurate and timely accounting, reporting and analysis
- Manage Financial and KPI reporting requirements for investors and key stakeholders
- Actively track Loop's key metrics and provide regular reporting and analysis to our leadership team
Treasury:
- Supporting Loop's payment and treasury management function by ensuring all transactions are recorded and reconciled on a timely basis
- Prepare and file all required daily, monthly and annual reports as required by Loop's financial partners
Financial Reporting:
- Develop and maintain financial reporting systems to meet the company's needs and compliance requirements.
- Coordinate and manage external audits, ensuring timely completion and resolution of audit findings.
- Prepare and respond to all external and internal audit requests and regulatory reporting requirements
- Support the internal compliance function to ensure Loop is meeting its KYC, AML and Compliance duties
Internal Controls:
- Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets.
- Conduct regular reviews and updates of internal controls to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
- Oversee compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Collaborate with the various teams to prepare annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance, analyze variances, and provide actionable insights to management.
- Assist in the development of long-term financial plans and strategies.
Financial Analysis:
- Perform financial analysis to support business decisions, including cost analysis, profitability analysis, and capital investment evaluations.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management to drive business performance.
- Support the development of financial models and scenario analysis.
Provide Additional Cross-Functional Support:
- Support the Operations and Sales teams with customer related queries related to transactions
- Provide support on special projects in collaboration with the Leadership team as require
- Assist with operational tasks such as credit evaluation, compliance evaluations and account investigations
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA or CMA (or international equivalent) certification or working towards one.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a leadership role, ideally in a FinTech or startup environment.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar platforms preferred.
- Strong financial acumen, problem-solving and analytical skills
- Impeccable accuracy with numbers and high attention to detail
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, GSuite and using cloud accounting software
- You have strong analytical skills and are able to work in a fast-changing environment
- You are a strong communicator and can effectively convey financial concepts and information
- You are a self-starter and can work without supervision
- You are comfortable working through ambiguous situations and managing multiple priorities

What we offer
- Salary range CAD$100,000-$120,000 annual, commensurate with experience
- Equity ranging 0.01-0.05%
- 3 weeks vacation
