JC Ford - Tennessee is seeking top talent to take our organization to the next level! We are actively seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team!

Summary:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer performs hands-on product design, computer analysis, and technical development for new capital machinery products and technologies using successful interaction with vendors, internal team members, and customers. This highly motivated self-starter delivers fully functional and cost-effective design solutions on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, an orientation toward details, and strength in analytical problem-solving.

Requirements

Specific Responsibilities Include:
  • Design components to be manufactured via conventional machining, sheet metal bending/rolling, welding, CNC machining and other related processes using Autodesk Inventor CAD models and drawings
  • Ensure designs meet product specifications, regulatory requirements, and international standards
  • Create and release product Bills of Materials
  • Participate in Design and Drawing Reviews
  • Develop product requirements and specification documents
  • Develop test procedures and validate for production
  • Support the development of project schedules and budgets
  • Perform and document Root Cause Analyses and Corrective Action Plans
  • Travel to customer locations as needed to troubleshoot issues and ensure programs meet deadlines,
  • Specify supplied components to meet design requirements and for continuous improvement
  • Support the work of less senior Mechanical Engineers and CAD Designers
  • Contribute to Engineering process development

Experience and Background:
  • 6+ years of relevant experience with BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • 4+ years of relevant experience with MS in Mechanical Engineering
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with a high level of autonomy
  • Technical writing and documentation skills
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering principles and methodologies
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Advanced 3D CAD modeling and drawing creation, preferably using Autodesk Inventor 2019
  • PDM experience, preferably with Autodesk Vault Pro

Preferred Experience:
  • Structural finite element analysis
  • Design of Heavy machinery, preferably food processing equipment
  • Design of electromechanical assemblies and linear motion-driven mechanical systems
  • Design of combustion devices
  • Thermal analysis using CFD


Required Education:
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from ABET accredited university.

Physical Requirements:

Most of the job function is performed in an office setting requiring standard safety precautions, however occasional visits to the production floor are also required.
