Summary

This position provides professional nursing care to patients by ensuring compliance with regulations and policies, and monitoring safe practices. Partners with leadership to create a patient focused practice environment to drive progress and achieve goals in the areas of patient experience, quality, access, employee engagement, revenue cycle, financial performance, physician satisfaction, care coordination, patient and employee safety, EHR regulatory compliance, e-Health and other initiatives. This role is responsible for managing clinical employees to include Nurses and Medical Assistants.

Job Duties

Oversees administrative needs for clinical operations:
  • Responsible for Compliance with clinic regulatory and licensing bodies (CLIA, Infection control, HIPAA, HRSA, Bureau of Primary Health Care, etc.).
  • Oversees nursing leadership for organizational compliance with vaccine programs, ongoing education.
  • Ensures compliance with other collaborating or required agencies separately listed.
  • Collaborates with pharmacist to ensure compliance with Texas Board of Pharmacy.
  • Nursing liaison for collaboration with Epic affiliate.
  • Is aware of and helps to guide clinic nursing policies and procedures - working with DCO, CMO, and providers.
  • Improves quality and compliance and identifies opportunities with clinic team, associate medical director, CMO, and DCO.
  • Analyzes UDS, PCMH data, patient and staff surveys to continually improve clinic performance, patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Implements workflow updates, provider or staff practices, Epic use, in collaboration with partners.
  • Prepares internal and external reports, assists in preparation of budgets, forecasts and financial modeling, as assigned and applicable to clinical needs.

Oversees general clinic function:
  • Anticipates and oversees clinical coverage at all three clinic sites, together with operations director, CMO, clinic site directors Reed, Cathedral, Caroline clinics.
  • Implements clinic communication strategies and promotes dialogue between providers & staff.
  • Schedules and manages regular staff meetings.
  • Responsible for emailed communications.
  • Maintains clinic inventory, supply monitoring and ordering, including point of care meds, specialized procedure equipment, Airgas contract, lab day-to-day oversight, and monitoring of sharps containers, biohazard material handling, etc.
  • Manages practice by improving utilization of resources and maintains practice efficiency while seeking to minimize operational costs.
  • Shares responsibility with CDO to respond to patient complaints or grievances within 48 hours
  • Works with LVNs and MA team to respond to patient clinical communications, including but not limited to, patient portal message management, PA assistance, referral inquiries, and compliance with timely return of phone calls to patients.

Staff and provider scheduling:
  • Monitors all clinic schedules by working with providers, CDO, front desk manager, and CMO to assign clinical support staff as needed for coverage and responds to last minute schedule needs.
  • Assigns duties and determines staff work schedules based on competencies of available staff and practice needs.
  • Collaborates with CMO to determine nursing coverage based on provider schedules in EPIC; ensures adequate clinical coverage, accounting for scheduled and unscheduled absences of all staff.

Managing personnel:
  • Assumes responsibility for recruitment, onboarding, orientation of new staff.
  • Validates clinical competencies ensuring safe care.
  • Implements performance management alignment with Employee Relations and progressive discipline as needed.
  • Ensure clinical staff are up to date on state licensure requirements, training maintenance such as BLS, in partnership with clinic leadership.
  • Works directly with staff to help mitigate interpersonal issues.
  • Implements quality improvement in clinics with CMO and nursing leadership.
  • Assists medical team with disgruntled or troubled patient situations to problem solve and guide response to patient or personnel.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Four years of relevant experience as a licensed Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association.
