Reporting to the Manager, Equipment Breakdown, the successful candidate will use their technical skills along with strong business acumen to grow brand presence. The individual will be looked upon to build a book of business while working closely with the other line of business teams to provide clients with a comprehensive insurance solution. The ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team, is paramount, as is the passion to develop creative ideas in seeking out new opportunities.

How you will create impact:

  • Building the brand. Developing positive and constructive relationships with brokers and business partners with a focus towards expanding market penetration.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key clients to deliver account support, and customized client focused proposals.
  • Underwriting and quoting new business and renewals in accordance with our underwriting philosophy and guideline, rating, loss ratio objectives, service standards to ensure a profitable book of business within established authority levels.
  • Working with partners and peers to prepare quotations and negotiate coverage or rates as applicable, offering creative solutions that offer a mutually beneficial outcome.
  • Actively monitor progress towards personal and business targets / goals.
  • Support continuous improvement and product development by providing constructive feedback and insights on product offerings, tools and/or resources.

To join our team:

  • An Insurance designation (or working towards) CIP/CRM is an asset.
  • A minimum of 5 years of underwriting or broker experience in the commercial insurance space
  • Proven experience working in the Equipment Breakdown, Construction, Manufacturing, and/or transportation and logistics segments
  • Must be fully bilingual (French/English)

What you need to know:

  • Detail oriented work that requires a high degree of concentration and versatility for extended periods of time.
  • You will handle sensitive information where a high degree of confidentiality and discretion is required.
  • You will be required to adhere to our hybrid work model, with a minimum of 2 days in office per week
  • You may travel occasionally locally and across Canada
