Position Summary
Portland Community College is seeking a bilingual individual who is student centered and passionate about working with young people to actualize their educational goals with YES & Gateway to College (high school programs). YES to College serves high school students (16-20) to achieve their GEDs, earn college credit, or enhance their English language skills. Gateway to College assists students to earn their High School Diploma while taking college classes at PCC. This position will mainly support the YES to College program but may provide occasional support to Gateway to College. This role will primarily support outreach and intake for ESOL students looking to improve their English skills.This role will also carry some registrar responsibilities related to transcripts.
This position is an in-person role that will be housed at the SE campus and does require travel between all 4 campuses.
Please note: Only current AP, Classified, and Faculty or PT Faculty are eligible to apply (Casuals PCC employees will not be considered). This is based on the language in the contract regarding 3.1.3 positions.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Work is typically performed in an office environment with a high level of public contact, both over the phone and in person. During peak registration periods incumbents will typically work extended hours, including some weekends. This position requires travel within the community and PCC campuses using a personal vehicle.
Physical Requirements: Occasional lifting of large quantities of recruiting materials and display equipment that may weigh 30-50 pounds required. During peak recruiting seasons requires long hours of standing on cement or gym floors.

- Provides 1-on-1 Spanish outreach and advising to high school students and their
families looking into coming into our programs for ESOL and GED services both
at PCC and our community partners. - Participates in program, division, college, and external partner events aimed at
providing outreach and recruitment to ESOL Spanish students. - Participates in updating marketing materials, specific to Spanish speaking
populations that go out to students, their families, and community partners. - Provides outreach and intake support for all new ESOL students, specifically
those whose first language is Spanish. - As part of the outreach and recruitment team, provides direct support for new
ESOL students who need to test prior to being placed into our programs. Testing
includes language level placement, CASAS testing for students looking to earn
GED, and state required assessments such as the ELPA screener and
ODE summatives. - Reviews transcripts of students to determine program eligibility, and updates
students' high school transcripts upon course completion at PCC through a credit
conversion chart that takes into account CCOGs and Oregon Department of
Education's requirements upheld between PCC and our school district partners.
Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in healthcare-related field, student services, or other related field. Experience performing the duties of this job may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Demonstrated experience in a healthcare environment or program related environment.
- Experience in customer oriented or student centered experience advising preferably in an academic environment.
- Experience in public speaking, educational marketing and recruitment. Strong organizational skills with experience in program coordination and/or office management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal rules and regulations, PCC academic requirements high school completion requirements.
- Experience providing effective advising and counseling resources.
- Experience analyzing, interpreting and assessing data related to student progress, persistence, retention, success and drop out retrieval.
