Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator to join our dynamic team. As an Estimator at PACO, you will play a critical role in the planning and execution of transformative infrastructure projects. Your ability to analyze project specifications, develop accurate cost estimates, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams will be instrumental in delivering exceptional results for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Comprehensive Estimates: Prepare and review detailed and accurate estimates for construction projects, covering all aspects such as labor, materials, equipment, and risks. Ensure every estimate aligns with project scope, standards, and client expectations while identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Multidisciplinary Teams: Partner with engineers, architects, project managers, and key stakeholders to create precise and independent cost estimates. Foster collaboration to ensure estimates reflect the project's technical and operational requirements.
  • Analyze and Optimize Designs: Evaluate project designs for their impact on cost and schedule, recommending innovative and cost-effective alternatives that align with both budgetary constraints and long-term operational goals.
  • Monitor Project Financials: Track and analyze project costs throughout the lifecycle, including adjustments for changes in scope. Provide actionable insights to ensure financial accountability and adherence to budget parameters.
  • Conduct Thorough Bid Analyses: Review contractor bids in detail, assessing pricing accuracy, and value. Provide critical input to support contractor selection and enhance overall project value.
  • Support Process Improvements: Participate in developing and implementing advanced estimating practices, including the integration of electronic systems, cost reference data, and innovative tools to streamline processes and improve accuracy.
  • Provide Technical Training and Mentorship: Share your expertise by offering guidance on best practices, fundamental estimating techniques, and industry trends to both internal teams and client personnel, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
Qualifications

We're looking for dynamic individuals who bring a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and a passion for excellence.
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field is required.
  • Experience:
    • At least 5 years of experience in estimating or related roles within construction or engineering projects.
    • Proven success in delivering accurate estimates for large-scale infrastructure or transit projects.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in industry-standard estimating software (e.g., CostX, RSMeans) and advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
    • Ability to interpret and analyze technical drawings, specifications, and construction-related documents.
  • Certifications: Certification as an Estimator from organizations such as ASPE, AACE, or RICS is highly preferred.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Must possess the ability to work collaboratively and effectively across diverse teams.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to construction and estimating.
    • Experience with systems such as electrical, mechanical, communication, and conveying systems is considered a strong asset.
