Description: Saint Ignatius College Prep seeks a full-time School Therapist to provide clinical services to students and consultative services to the administration, faculty, and parents. Applicants should be either a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). The School Therapist works directly with the School Counseling Department on student referrals from counselors, teachers, and parents.

Job Summary: The School Therapist will bring experience working with adolescents in a secondary school setting, and be able to support the school's mission of educating young men and women for lives of faith, love, service and leadership through a commitment to the ideals of Jesuit education.

The ideal applicant will leverage extensive knowledge and experience of adolescent mental health in order to best serve the needs of our students and families. At the heart of this role is the value of cura personalis, the individual care of every student through a professional relationship that respects their gifts, talents, and experiences. The ideal applicant will combine empathy, cultural awareness, and expertise to respond to the needs of a richly diverse student body.
The School Therapist will be able to:
  • Provide individual and group counseling to address personal, social, mental health, and/or interpersonal challenges as needed.
  • Assist the school's efforts in ensuring that students are socially and emotionally supported through empirically based clinical interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with school administration, School Counselors, Learning Specialists, parents and other entities to help identify, support and intervene with students who are struggling with personal/social/emotional/mental health issues.
  • Follow-up with referrals from School Counselors in a timely manner, and provide written and/or verbal feedback on referred students.
  • Provide consultation for parents of students receiving clinical services and provide referrals for outside services as the case requires.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school and external clinicians and agencies.
  • Provide drug and alcohol education and counseling to students and families.
  • Respond to communication from school administration beyond work hours in emergency situations.
  • Complete documentation, progress notes, and reports in guidance with ethical responsibilities and legal mandates in the clinical field.
  • Stay up to date on best practices and current trends in therapy with adolescents.
  • Provide training for faculty and staff on mental health issues and adolescent development.
  • Develop and implement mental health and wellness programming for the student and parent community.
  • Participate in the school Crisis Team.
  • Participate in the Student Services Team and other school committees as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Possess a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology or Social Work
  • Hold current credentials as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
  • Experience working with adolescents, faculty, and administration in a high school setting preferred
  • Experience being part of a multidisciplinary team, communicating and consulting with a range of internal and external partners
  • A commitment to the principles and ideals of a Jesuit education as set forth in Saint Ignatius College Prep's mission statement
  • Extensive knowledge of adolescent development and interventions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent record keeping and organizational skills
  • Experience exploring and addressing issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Skilled in facilitating individual and group counseling as well as small and large group work, i.e., student support groups and prevention education programming for various populations
  • Ability to work effectively and professionally with all constituents, i.e., students, parents, faculty, and staff, who represent diverse backgrounds
  • Practicing Roman Catholic, preferred


Additional Information: This is an exempt, 11-month, in-person full-time staff position, with occasional evening events throughout the year. This position is eligible for the usual and customary benefits that are provided by the School.

The School Therapist reports directly to the Director of School Counseling and works closely with the School Counseling Department and Prefect's Office.

Salary Range: $75,000-$95,000
