DIRECTOR OF PC&L
JOB SUMMARY:
Director of PC&L oversees the strategic and operational management of production control and logistics activities, ensuring seamless operations and the effective deployment of resources. This role is pivotal in optimizing production schedules, inventory levels, and logistics flows to meet customer demands while minimizing costs and inefficiencies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct and manage day-to-day operations of production control and logistics functions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Oversee the scheduling, planning, and execution of production activities to meet customer delivery expectations.
- Ensure smooth operation of inbound and outbound logistics, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
- Develop and implement strategies for effective resource deployment, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
- Lead initiatives to standardize processes, enhance visibility, and improve the overall performance of PC&L operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new product launches, capacity planning, and market expansion efforts.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels to support production needs without incurring excess holding costs.
- Oversee the materials flow process, including procurement, staging, and delivery to production lines.
- Implement inventory control measures to minimize obsolescence and waste.
- Manage the logistics network to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of raw materials and finished goods.
- Develop strong relationships with transportation providers, third-party logistics (3PL) partners, and vendors.
- Monitor logistics KPIs to drive continuous improvement in efficiency and service quality.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing PC&L team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Define clear performance metrics and provide regular feedback to ensure team success.
- Drive talent development initiatives to build expertise in production control and logistics within the organization.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within production control and logistics operations.
- Leverage technology, such as ERP and advanced planning systems, to enhance operational efficiency and decision-making.
- Promote lean manufacturing principles and best practices across the organization.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards in all PC&L operations.
- Develop contingency plans to address potential supply chain disruptions or unforeseen challenges.
- All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Logistics, or a related field
- Experience: 10+ years' experience in Automotive Manufacturing or related field. 5+ years' experience and demonstrated success as a knowledgeable supply chain manager in an Automotive Manufacturing, Assembly or Distribution facility
TRAVEL:
- Travel Required: 25% - 50% of the time
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Leading and managing a PC/L project team in a fast paced, short window automotive assembly and/or sequencing plant.
- Performing and providing supply chain leadership in a typical supply Automotive Manufacturing, Assembly or Distribution facility.
- Creative, out of the box thinker willing to try new ideas.
- Technically Competent in a wide variety of supply chain areas.
- Has the desire to strive for both personal and operational excellence through a never-ending drive for continuous improvement.
- High degree of organizational skills in a highly complex environment.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and leadership ability, especially for collaborating with others internally and externally to accomplish goals and resolve issues.
- Able to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines and be able to perform self-initiated and planned activities.
- Demonstrated and creative ability to solve problems.
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency, and an overall customer satisfaction focus.
- Functions well in a team environment.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient with Material Control Systems, Materials Requirement Planning Systems, Customer Materials Systems, AMTS.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Proactive approach to identifying and solving supply chain challenges.
