About the work environment:

Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home. Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm with flexibility around start/end times.

We are hiring for this position out of our Toronto and Vancouver offices. Successful candidates who apply outside of these areas will be expected to relocate and reside in a location that is within a commutable distance

About you:

As the VP of Balance Sheet Risk, you'll work with the Senior VP of Financial Risk. You'll play a key role in helping Treasury and Finance manage the Group's Market, Liquidity, and Solvency risks. You'll coordinate efforts around Market and Liquidity risk recovery for the Asset Liability Committee and Board Risk Committee. You'll also team up with the Chief Risk Officer, the Treasurer, and their teams to ensure that senior management and the Board understand these risks. Plus, you'll lead the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process for Peoples Group and be in charge of updating the Recovery Plan and CDIC Resolution Plan materials.

As an experienced risk professional in the Treasury and Market Risk domain, you're eager to expand your expertise in capital and solvency risk management. You aim to make a significant contribution to managing risks at a mid-sized financial institution.

About the qualifications:

  • 10+ years working in Treasury and Market Risk Management at Canadian Financial institutions.
  • Education/Certification: Masters in Finance or quantitative discipline, ideally with a MBA from a leading business school. CFA or FRM are required.
  • Deep understanding of ALM concepts for the Banking Book, including hedging and management of Duration and IRRBB limits.
  • Deep understanding and experience in modeling banking products for ALM, with hands on experience using balance sheet management solutions such as QRM, Bancware, Empyrean, etc
  • Expert knowledge of OSFI Liquidity Adequacy Requirements, with sufficient knowledge to implement LCR and NCCF reporting from source systems.
  • Familiarity with CMHC MBS and CMB securitization programs.

  • Manage, motivate and develop direct reports through ongoing performance development.
  • Review and oversight of balance sheet ALM assumptions
  • Oversight of Liquidity Reporting, including independent validation and assurance.
  • Oversight of IRRBB reporting, including independent validation and assurance.
  • ICAAP Owner
  • Recovery Plan Owner
  • Owner of ALM Risk Measurement Methodologies and Assumptions
  • Review and Challenge of Treasury Tools
  • Review and Challenge of Hedging Programs
  • Owner of ICAAP Balance Sheet Stress testing Models


Compensation:

Peoples Group is pleased to offer employees a competitive annual salary plus a discretionary profit share opportunity. In addition, we are pleased to offer employees both group benefits and the option to participate in our RRSP matching program, beginning the first day of employment. Salary for this position will vary between $190,000 and $210,000 per year depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities and experience that the chosen candidate possesses.
