- Design, develop, and maintain tooling solutions tailored to large-scale metal missile canister manufacturing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and design engineers, to optimize production processes.
- Develop and implement tooling standards, guidelines, and best practices for large-scale metal fabrication.
- Conduct tooling feasibility studies, assessments, and risk analyses to ensure high-quality output.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts to enhance production efficiency, reduce cycle times, and improve tool longevity.
- Troubleshoot and resolve tooling-related issues to maintain smooth production flow.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in tooling engineering, preferably in large-scale metal manufacturing for the aerospace or defense industry.
- Proven experience in tooling design and fabrication for metal structures, ideally in missile or canister manufacturing.
- Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and FEA analysis tools.
- Strong knowledge of metalworking processes, including welding, machining, forming, and assembly.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative team-oriented mindset.
Preferred Skills:
- Specialized experience in missile canister tooling and assembly.
- Knowledge of high-tolerance manufacturing practices and large-scale quality assurance protocols.
