MANAGER OF MATERIALS COMPLIANCE

JOB SUMMARY:

Manager of Materials Compliance is responsible for ensuring that all materials-related processes and systems comply with both internal company standards and external regulatory requirements. This role oversees the development, implementation, and monitoring of compliance policies, procedures, and systems within the supply chain, focusing on materials management. This role works closely with various teams to ensure that materials meet required quality, safety, and legal standards, while optimizing processes to reduce risks and improve operational efficiency.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement compliance policies and procedures related to materials procurement, handling, and storage.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with external regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, ISO, environmental standards, local laws) and internal standards (e.g., company quality and safety protocols).
  • Stay informed of changes in regulations and industry standards that affect materials handling and supply chain operations.
  • Work with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to applicable laws, including environmental, safety, customs, country, federal, state, local laws, and quality regulations.
  • Oversee internal audits of materials management systems, processes, and documentation to ensure compliance with established procedures and policies.
  • Review and refine internal systems (e.g., ERP, WMS) to ensure they align with compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure systems have built-in compliance checks and are updated as regulations evolve.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers and vendors to ensure they meet required compliance standards.
  • Audit suppliers and vendors for adherence to regulatory and internal standards, conducting risk assessments as necessary.
  • Develop and implement supplier qualification programs and regular evaluations to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve materials management processes to minimize compliance risks and ensure efficiency.
  • Identify potential compliance risks within the supply chain, recommend corrective actions, and implement solutions.
  • Lead initiatives to develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for materials handling, ensuring they are compliant with regulations and company standards.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for internal teams and suppliers on compliance requirements and best practices.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of compliance activities, including audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure all materials-related records and reports are accurate, complete, and in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Work closely with procurement, quality control, production, and logistics teams to ensure all materials processes are compliant with both internal and external standards.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for compliance issues related to materials within the supply chain.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to ensure compliance objectives are aligned with business goals.
  • Develop and maintain compliance dashboards, metrics, and KPIs to monitor adherence to materials compliance standards.
  • Provide regular reports to senior leadership on compliance status, risks, and mitigation efforts.
  • Ensure timely reporting of any compliance issues or incidents to relevant stakeholders.
  • All other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years' experience in Automotive Manufacturing or related field. 2+ years' experience and demonstrated success as a knowledgeable supply chain manager in an Automotive Manufacturing, Assembly or Distribution facility.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Proven experience in materials management, supply chain operations, or compliance-related roles.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements related to materials management (e.g., FDA, ISO, environmental laws).
  • Experience working with internal audit processes, risk management, and compliance programs.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and materials management software.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong understanding of compliance-related processes, standards, and regulations.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with internal teams, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, compliance management software, and other relevant tools.
  • Must possess continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and solving supply chain challenges.
