The Opportunity

The Ecommerce Operations Manager support's MEC's ecommerce strategy by helping to enable revenue growth, enhance customer experience and ensure operational excellence for mec.ca. This position is well-suited to someone who thrives in a diverse role that allows them to tackle a variety of tasks and projects spanning ecommerce systems and technology, analysis of ecommerce and customer data, project management, omni-channel operations and more.

You have a deep understanding of how ecommerce sites function and are maintained, best practices for ecommerce customer experience and conversion optimization, as well as digital KPIs. To succeed in this role, you likely have a breadth of experience having worked in various roles across ecommerce teams. Please note that while the operational scope of this role does not include direct management of digital merchandising or product set-up, knowledge of these areas will be extremely helpful.

Location: This can be a remote role within Canada or hybrid based at MEC's Head Office in Vancouver, requiring a minimum of two days per week in the office.

As an Ecommerce Operations Manager, you'll be:
  • Act as General Store Manager for mec.ca, ensuring optimal daily operations to drive revenue while proactively identifying opportunities to optimize conversion rate and average order value through a suite of online tools including product recommendations, digital merchandising, search, and product reviews among others. Collaborate with team members to execute efficiently.
  • Collaborate with omnichannel operations to ensure online orders are fulfilled and returns actioned in a timely manner and that cross-functional partners are upholding related service level agreements. Support with updates or changes involving ecommerce systems and processes.
  • Serve as a point of contact for incoming requests, developing processes and workflows to support with triage, prioritization and implementation
  • Analyze site performance, user behaviour and operational data in order to inform priorities and recommend site enhancements
  • Partner with UX, technology teams and other partners to execute on operational requests, address bugs and implement improvements
  • Coordinate site updates requiring support across multiple teams within ecommerce or the business
  • Lead development of new processes and documentation to ensure team efficiency
  • Actively participate in QA efforts for the implementation of new site features
  • Support with the implementation of analytics and tracking requests
  • Support with research and development of business cases for new technology, tools, or site enhancements
  • Support with project management and ecommerce planning process
  • Research and stay up to date on ecommerce trends and best practices
  • Manage communications and updates within the ecommerce team with other departments across MEC
  • Complete various individual and team-based projects to as requested by VP eCommerce and Digital Experience

Ideally, you'll be bringing:
  • 5+ years of experience in B2C ecommerce and understanding of site operations, user experience, digital merchandising, digital marketing and analytics
  • A strong business acumen and ability to work cross-functionally across all levels of the business
  • Ability to make data informed decisions: deep understanding of site performance metrics and analytics tools
  • Strong, hands-on knowledge of Google Analytics 4
  • Experience with various ecommerce technology including CMS and digital merchandising tools
  • Resourceful and creative at tackling challenges, investigating issues and conducting analysis
  • Team player with exceptional ability to work cooperatively teams
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with Excel and other tools like PowerBI
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity
  • Experience with agile workflows
  • Experience using tools such as JIRA, Figma, Confluence, and Miro

The Compensation & Perks!

This is a permanent role with the anticipated annual salary range of $106,000 to $125,000. The exact salary will be dependent on the successful candidate's relevant skills, location, experience, qualifications and internal equity. This role is eligible for our annual variable incentive plan.
