Position Overview:

The General Ledger Manager is responsible for the general accounting functions including oversight and management of the team responsible for reconciliations, journal entries, preparation of forms and schedules, and monthly close. The position will interact with all aspects of the business and will extensively with the respective systems and processes of the Accounting and Finance Department.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Exercise sound judgement to determine and apply GAAP to business situations.
  • Utilize IT systems such as: SAP, MS Office products, Blackline, ADP Payroll system, electronic banking integration process, etc., as daily tools to accomplish work objectives.
  • Analyze financial implications and implement new accounting directives for balance sheet and income statement classifications to operating business units.
  • Work closely with the Controller to record journal entries in a consistent and timely manner.
  • Review all financial information from business units in support of the accounting close process with the Controller and Director of Accounting.
  • Dedicate the time necessary to close the books monthly in an accurate, timely, and organized manner according to schedules.
  • Reconcile significant accounts during month-end and resolve any reconciliation items timely.
  • Provide opinion of interpretation of accounting pronouncements as applied to operational accounting.
  • Work with the Controller and Director of Accounting to maintain adequate internal controls and safeguard company assets.

Other Functions:
  • Manage accounting areas as assigned.
  • Serves as a primary contact for the general ledger close process and meets all close calendar timelines.
  • Work to streamline accounting practices and related procedures.
  • Serves as a main stakeholder in the design and implementation of accounting-related software.
  • Assist the Controller in preparation of financial presentations and any ad-hoc accounting projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Science or the Arts, in the field of Accounting, Finance of Business Administration or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience required.
  • 7+ years in General Accounting, Cost Accounting, or a related professional/relevant field of experience.
  • Manufacturing industry experience.
  • Financial accounting with strong emphasis in accounting theory experience.
  • General Ledger accounting experience with significant exposure in researching correct application of U.S. GAAP.
