The Planning and Innovation Senior Engineer plays a crucial role in driving the company's growth and success. This position monitor industry trends, evaluate new ideas, and adopt best practices that align with departmental goals. In this role, you combine technological and management skills to innovate and respond to customer needs rapidly

Essential functions
Leadership for HLNA Long Term Planning and Innovation LEAD Division - BEV & NVC Changepoint & Innovation Focus
Provide direction and guidance for future strategies, ensuring alignment and collaboration across all initiatives, effectively communicating across all levels of the Organization(s) and External Customers
Overall Enforcement of Company Policies and Guidelines
Develop Company Long-Term Strategy/Quarterly/Periodic Reporting
Budget preparation related to assigned initiatives; Evaluating the practical feasibility of projects
Support Project Planning including systems, equipment, labor, and space resources
Develop / Propose Automation and Innovation Studies to reduce resource requirements
Develop/Consolidate Quarterly Division Business Review Presentations
Project Leader for E-Flow Process as assigned
Ensuring implementation of cost-down methods through sound, efficient and innovative practices
Evaluating work environments assuring compliance with government regulations and safe practices, including environmental policies and procedures
Ensure the design of a safe, organized, and clean environment for all associates
Encouraging cooperation between team members, obtaining, and managing all resources needed to meet HLNA goals
Creating a model of "Best In Class" in all areas based on strategies and goals; Valuing and encouraging diversity in the workplace; Demonstrating integrity in all interactions (visitors/customers/suppliers/vendors)
Make decisions based on data after thorough evaluation, including monitoring of safety, quality, cost, delivery, morale, and environment
Developing long-term strategies for decision making for HLNA; Adjusting competitive strategies as needed and acting in a timely manner; Assessing risks to HLNA, the community and public
Utilizing decision making and problem solving processes
Maintain a sound knowledge base by reading/interacting with professional/trade groups and publications and advising the organization on best/relevant practices
Reinforcing continuous improvement and creating Company-wide systems/processes focusing on customer satisfaction and industry trends
Providing constructive and timely feedback encouraging cooperation among departments/divisions/companies
Identify and remove operational obstacles for the organization
Forecast and propose future technical and system related innovations ensuring growth
Lead as a role model demonstrating advanced expertise by providing opinions on difficult problems and feeding information back to the source.
Plan Capital Equipment Including 5+ Year Strategy
Propose and Approve Layouts prior to project implementation
Manage projects through E-Flow process
Analyze Process history and c/m chronic problems
Ensure internal resources for all facets of the organization are involved in the project
Represent Executive Management to ensure that Divisional Performance is maintained at an optimal level while stiving for continuous improvement

Qualifications
Minimum 5 years relevant engineering experience, preferably in logistics material handling and automation
Warehouse Management System (WMS) & Yard Management System (YMS) experience
Proven innovative mindset and approach to solution development
Demonstrated project management experience related to equipment, systems, & processes
Strong understanding of warehousing and production operations, including quality systems/requirements, shop floor information systems, lean, etc.
Automotive industry experience is a plus
Solid understanding of systems, system interfacing, and infrastructure to support equipment
Strong PC Skills (Microsoft Office Suite / AutoCAD)
Occasionally support department and company through adjusted work hours as required
Some travel and overtime may be required to support the company & associated projects
On-going training to continually improve knowledge base & skill set related to advanced technology & industry trends within primary areas of responsibility
Regularly required move throughout the facilities

Education
  • 4 year degree in Process/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or related technical field or equivalent related working experience
  • Six Sigma Certification (desired)
  • Lean Manufacturing Certification (desired)
