Duties:
- Supervise and coordinate M&E activities with Area Superintendents
- Review and understand M&E contracts
- Provide direction and coordination during commissioning and closeout of all building M&E systems with M&E coordinators, M&E contractors and commissioning agent
- Plan the M&E components of a major construction project and provide input to construction schedule(s) in conjunction with the Project Manager and Scheduler
- Project Start up Mechanical and Electrical requirements
- Assist Engineers and Consultant with M&E design
- Develop Water main and Sanitary ERP
- Provide design and constructability reviews for mechanical and electrical building systems
- Review M&E changes received from the architect, and M&E subconsultants to ensure they comply with the project specification
- Coordinate M&E trades with other scopes of work
- Review M&E contractors' submittals, ITPs, QA/QC program, execution plans and provide input and feedback
- Work with M&E contractors on submittal reviews, engineering conflicts, field conflicts
- Supervise and oversee M&E contractors onsite in relation to their scopes of work
- Schedule and conduct regular inspections of M&E work scopes
- Lead M&E project meetings with internal and external parties to monitor and support the team's ongoing progression of building systems for the construction project
- Delegate and manage work of others either through direct or indirect people management
- Coach and develop M&E coordinators, Assistant Superintendents and Superintendents in relation to M&E field to help develop skills and knowledge
- Prepare daily Superintendent reports, safety inspections, PSA, QA/QC audits
- Financial Management: Understand M&E budgets, Billing and Invoicing
- Identify and track deficiencies to resolve within contractual timelines
- Attend and conduct regular meetings
Requirements:
- An engineering degree or construction technology diploma is required
- Six to eight years of experience working on projects with M&E field-related scopes of work
- Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control and engineering drawings
- Good understanding of M&E building codes and standards (BC Building Code)
- Ability to quickly identify problem situations, evaluate alternative causes, produce workable solutions and lead a large team to successful completion
