Job Description
This position bears responsibility for input into planning, directing, and overseeing the implementation and operation of insurance and risk management programs at the strategic business unit (SBU) level within the organization. This position has the responsibility to act as a corporate or intra-corporate expert on insurance and risk management methods, procedures, systems, contractual implications related to insurance subject matter, and the development of critical trends and historical information necessary to continually monitor and maintain up to date risk mitigation techniques related specifically to the core business of the SBU's for the area of responsibility.
Review risks arising from the strategic business unit (SBU) operations and recommend appropriate contract language, insurance coverage, and other risk mitigations strategies as part of the overall risk planning for each project
Assess and comprehend the detailed interrelationships between numerous contractual provisions and their impacts on risk management and insurance related topics and practices
Participate in detailed negotiations with clients relating to risk & insurance matters in collaboration with a broad coordinated proposal team
Manage a cost-effective insurance program and monitor broker and carrier performance with respects to those SBUs supported
Interface with other groups inside and outside the organization, senior management, other locations, and clients
Typically manage personnel and provide an environment for the development and professional advancement of staff members, including on-the-job and formal training and development opportunities ,and timely performance feedback

Basic Job Requirements
Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and sixteen (16) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to twenty (20) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements
Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders
Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
Preferred Qualifications
Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in risk management, business, accounting or finance or other related field
Sixteen (16) years of professional experience within risk & insurance management related fields, with emphasis in the engineering and construction industry
Related professional certification preferred
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Leadership on risk and insurance issues
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computer based business applications
