Job Summary:
PIC Group is seeking a highly skilled Project Controls Specialist to support a major power plant outage in New Mexico. As a Project Controls Specialist, you will be integral to the successful execution of the outage by providing expertise in planning, scheduling, and cost control. This contract-based position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to track progress, identify risks, and deliver comprehensive reports to ensure that the outage is completed on time and within budget. The Project Controls Specialist will play a critical role in maintaining project schedules, managing costs, and ensuring all performance targets are met.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, maintain, and monitor project schedules using industry-standard tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project, ensuring accurate sequencing of tasks, identification of critical paths, and milestone management to meet project timelines.
Assist in the preparation of project budgets by analyzing cost estimates, resource requirements, and procurement plans, and monitor project expenditures to ensure alignment with the approved budget.
Analyze project performance data to identify variances and risks, prepare detailed progress and cost reports, and offer mitigation recommendations where needed to ensure transparency in project performance.
Collaborate with project teams to identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies, performing both qualitative and quantitative risk assessments to minimize potential delays and cost overruns.
Oversee the change control process, evaluate the impact of changes on project schedules, costs, and resources, and provide clear and timely communication to stakeholders regarding project status, risks, and performance.
Ensure all activities comply with corporate policies and industry standards for project controls, and support the implementation of project control processes and best practices across the team.

Job Requirements:
Strong knowledge of project lifecycle management, resource allocation, and financial forecasting.
Demonstrated ability to identify risks, analyze project data, and propose effective solutions.
Familiarity with risk analysis techniques and mitigation strategies to proactively address project delays and issues.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders and project teams.
Ability to manage competing priorities, meet tight deadlines, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
Proficiency in project management software/tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements include sitting and/or standing on feet for extended periods of time.

Education / Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may substitute for a degree.
5+ years of experience in project controls, including scheduling and cost management in the construction or power generation industries
Relevant certifications such as PMI-SP or PSP are a plus
