Position Summary
Estimates labor and material costs of manufacturing and engineering based on Request for Proposal (RFP) data submitted by prospective customers. Analyzes specifications including sketches, blueprints, bills of material or sample layouts, and calculates production costs using labor and material pricing schedules and historical data. Collects cost data from functional representatives, subcontractors, and vendors. Computes cost estimates of raw materials or subcontracted work and labor. Prepares and maintains historical cost data. Creates cost models for cost estimating elements. Prepares cost reports and presents findings to management, contract personnel, proposal coordinators, customer representatives, price auditors, vendors, and subcontractors.

For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Primary Responsibilities
- Use drawing and specification information in customer Requests for Quotes (RFQs), and determines labor, material, and process hour and cost estimates for detailed parts, assemblies, and tooling
- Prepare estimates using company approved Excel workbooks and data sheets
- Coordinate with procurement for Requests for Quotations from outside suppliers for parts, materials, hardware, standards, and surface processes
- Maintain historical databases for Division core competencies and typical products
- Prepare data for reports, presentations, status requests, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, P&L analysis, BQMS, and other methods used in product manufacturing
- Knowledge of customer RFQ document types and language; Ability to interpret RFQ requirements from customer drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of cost estimating methods, from detailed part bids through parametric modeling used in large-scale quotations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail, accurate, and organized
- Blueprint reading and interpretation skills
- Appropriate math skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CATIA or Enovia
- Able to establish, communicate, and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
