Chief Development Officer (CDO) - St. Coletta of Greater Washington (SCGW)

St. Coletta of Greater Washington (SCGW) is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and aspirational Chief Development Officer (CDO) to join our growing and mission-driven organization. This is a pivotal time of growth for SCGW, and the CDO will play a key role in managing all facets of development and external relations activities, ensuring we meet and exceed our organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities: The CDO will oversee foundation and corporate relations, public relations, individual donor relations and solicitation, digital marketing, direct mail, special events, and planned giving. They will foster and sustain a culture of philanthropy among the Board of Directors, Charter Board, and volunteers.

Reporting to Michael Rodrigues, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the CDO will develop and grow an individual donor program, implement systems for tracking and acknowledging donors, and create innovative donor recognition opportunities. They will work closely with senior leadership to set fundraising goals and objectives while overseeing a team of three dedicated staff members across all areas of fundraising and engagement. The CDO will guide senior leaders in their fundraising efforts and spearhead initiatives to grow and enhance the development function.

The CDO will also provide key support to the SCGW Charter Board and Chair of the Development Committee.

Exceptional written and oral communication skills are essential, as the CDO will serve as a spokesperson for the organization, championing SCGW's impact and strategic priorities. Immersing themselves in the life of the organization, the CDO will elevate SCGW's public profile and philanthropic reach.

Financial and Fundraising Overview: SCGW has historically relied on federal support from the districts of the students we serve, as well as grant funding. The CDO will build upon these efforts, enhancing and diversifying our funding base to ensure continued growth and success.

Key Duties Include:

Develop strategies with the CEO and Development Committee to identify and engage diverse donor prospects.

Oversee public relations programs to promote community understanding and support.

Manage the annual cycle of grant applications and funding proposals.

Cultivate and solicit major gifts for special campaigns and initiatives.

Oversee capital campaigns, foundation grants, and individual donor programs.

Supervise annual fundraising events and manage digital marketing efforts.

Provide updates on fundraising efforts to the CEO and Board of Trustees.

Manage and request the annual development department budget.

Skills and Qualifications:

Proven success in donor cultivation, stewardship, and diverse funding strategies.

Knowledge of media production, communications, and fundraising networks.

Demonstrated ability to build relationships with high-net-worth individuals and corporate sponsors.

Experience developing public relations materials and managing donor databases.

Ability to lead a team and develop a comprehensive annual development strategy.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Bachelor's degree in English, communications, public administration, or a related field (Master's preferred).

Minimum of five (5) years in a senior development role, with experience leading fundraising and external affairs at a non-profit organization.

Additional Requirements:

Successful completion of required training courses.

TB screening, criminal background investigation, and drug screening.
