Key Responsibilities
- Assimilate space-based remotely sensed data into advanced variational data assimilation systems.
- Analyze data from hyper-spectral infrared spectrometers, microwave radiometers, and GNSS-RO radio occultation sensors.
- Develop and apply fast radiative transfer models and techniques.
- Handle and process large-volume data sets.
- Perform statistical analyses to validate and interpret remotely sensed data.
Qualifications and Skills
Required:
- ACTIVE SECRET CLEARANCE
- Master's degree (or higher: Ph.D. or equivalent experience) in Atmospheric Science (Meteorology), Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Oceanography, Computer Science, Statistics, or related disciplines.
- Proficiency in at least one or more of the following programming languages/tools: FORTRAN, C/C++, Python, UNIX shell scripting, Matlab, IDL, GrADS, RTTOV, CRTM, or ROPP.
- Expertise in handling large datasets and performing complex data analyses.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of variational data assimilation systems.
- Experience with radiative transfer and fast radiative transfer models.
- Strong background in statistical analysis and modeling of atmospheric data.
