Job Title: Central Processing Leader, Clinical Flow
Job Specialty: Central Processing Leader, Clinical Flow
Job Duration: 13 months
Shift: 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week, Days with occasional rotation, up to 4 weekend shifts per month, no major holidays.
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: 3-5 years of recent experience in an educator or supervisory role in Central Processing/Operating Room with exposure, or 5-7 years of experience as a Central Processing Technician with progressive responsibility.
License: Not specified
Certifications: Certification by Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) or Central Board of Sterile Processing Departments (CBSPD) or another related recognized certification such as an Operating Room Technician.
Must-Have: Associate's degree or equivalent combination of formal education and experience is preferred. Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
Job Description:
- Reports to the Central Processing Department Director and is responsible for assisting with the coordination of instrumentation throughput, project management, and oversight of equipment preventative maintenance and documentation of other services.
- Provides support for frontline staff, assists with employee education and in-services, and participates in department leadership meetings.
- Continues change process management for ongoing initiatives as delegated by division leadership; prepares recommendations for the Director and collaborates on pipeline planning.
- Performs systematic follow-up procedures to ensure competency in basic Central Processing skills.
- Assists department leaders to ensure staff practice policies, processes, and regulatory standards.
- Solves technical clinical issues, conducts quality improvement, and researches utilization projects.
- Demonstrates advanced interpersonal and writing skills to develop and conduct presentations and communicate with the interdisciplinary team.
- Utilizes basic computer proficiency for accessing and entering data from computerized information systems.
- Organizes tasks efficiently and completes work assignments, meeting project deadlines as designated.
- Communicates effectively, both written and verbal.
- Supports ongoing education and evaluates the effectiveness of new technologies and changes in policies and procedures.
- Interfaces effectively with all levels of staff and customers, providing both group and individual instruction.
- Assists in maintaining standards for accreditation and serves as a liaison between departments and partners.
- Utilizes incident reporting systems for improvement areas and follows up on these reports for root cause analysis.
- Remains knowledgeable of unit-based quality improvement projects and assists in developing training plans.
- Assumes responsibility for maintaining current knowledge and competency in Central Processing technology and relevant standards and practices.
- Provides assistance on special projects and coordination of department initiatives.
- Attends necessary meetings.
- Follows established infection control and safety procedures.
- Provides educational support to employees on all shifts and weekends.
- Adheres to the organization's behavioral standards.
