SUMMARY:
The Piasecki Aircraft Corporation Senior Structural Engineer will lead the development, integration, and documentation of structural requirements for advanced rotorcraft and unmanned air vehicles. This role demands a strong understanding of structural and dynamic analysis principles, with a focus on ensuring the integrity and performance of complex aerospace systems. The Senior Structures Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams, guiding product design and validating structural integrity through a combination of analytical methods, finite element models/simulations, and hands-on testing.

SUMMARY:

This role demands a strong understanding of structural and dynamic analysis principles, with a focus on ensuring the integrity and performance of complex aerospace systems. The Senior Structures Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams, guiding product design and validating structural integrity through a combination of analytical methods, finite element models/simulations, and hands-on testing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the development and implementation of structural design requirements for various aircraft programs, including both manned and unmanned platforms.
- Oversee the structural design and analysis of aerospace vehicles, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, standards, and program requirements.
- Develop models within FLIGHTLAB for predicting and analyzing the loads and dynamic response of aerospace vehicles and rotor systems under various flight conditions.
- Conduct stress analysis, fatigue analysis, and structural dynamics analysis to evaluate the integrity and performance of aircraft structures under various loading conditions.
- Conduct investigations into the dynamic behavior of rotorcraft rotors and fuselage, including vibration, forced response, aeroelasticity, and acoustics.
- Develop and validate finite element models (FEMs) of aircraft structures using industry-standard software tools such as FEMAP, NASTRAN, and Abaqus.
- Collaborate with other engineers and technical staff to ensure that structural and dynamic considerations are integrated into the overall aircraft design.
- Create and review technical documentation, including design reports, analysis reports, test plans, and test reports.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry best practices in structural and dynamic analysis.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Perform additional tasks assigned by engineering department leadership.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent.
- 7+ years of related work experience in the aerospace industry, with a focus on structural and dynamic analysis.
- Experience with FAA regulations and certification processes for commercial and DoD aircraft is preferred.
