DUTIES

Reporting to the Director, Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) & Strategic Partnerships (SP), and collaborating closely with the Registrar's Office, this position will provide oversite for the creation and refinement of a sustainable structure for the promotion, application and data-tracking of various types of pathway agreements specific to areas of transfer, dual credit, Indigenous cohort programs/course delivery partnerships and PLAR. This position will identify potential areas of duplicate work associated with increases in transfer and PLAR pathways and will bring consistency to procedural and process levels across departments involved in the administration and development of pathway agreements.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Works with Director, PLAR and Strategic Partnerships, Registrar's Office, and key interest holders to create, manage, and report on a project plan to analyze four TRU pathways into and through TRU studies, including current transfer, dual credit/TRU Start, Indigenous cohort programs/course delivery partnerships, and prior learning pathways.
  • For each of these four pathways, work in close consultation and collaboration with the project team and interest holders in assessing current structures, duplication of work, and preparing recommendations for improvement and scalability.
  • Research and convey the benefit to current and future TRU students laddering into TRU using the four pathways.
  • Analyze and compare tasks, processes, procedures, outcomes, metrics, and resource allocation of current practices, bringing consistencies to pathway agreements.
  • Develop a sustainable structure for the development, promotion, application, and data-tracking for each of the four pathways.
  • Strategize opportunities and challenges to increase transfer and prior learning student conversion rates and students completing their education at TRU.
  • Collaborate with the Dual Credit & Block Transfer Coordinator (in Registrar's Office) and other interest holders to:
    • Foster and maintain relationships with partner public postsecondary institutions from BC, Alberta, and across Canada, and serve to broker academic block transfer and degree completion agreements,
    • Strengthen relationships with regional and provincial secondary school transition coordinators.
  • Improve the time required for partnership development and approval.
  • Provide quarterly and comprehensive annual reports on activities and recommendations including each of the items referenced above.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Education:
  • The incumbent should hold a minimum of a graduate degree in a related field.


Experience:
  • Over 3 years of experience in educational administration in a post-secondary environment such as PLAR, postsecondary block transfers, Indigenous studies, and dual credit.
  • Proven understanding of adult formal and experiential learning and adult learners in post-secondary settings.
  • Demonstration of a collaborative and inclusive leadership style and the ability to work effectively with staff, students, colleagues from other post-secondary institutions.
  • Proven experience analyzing procedures, processes, and practices.


Skills and Knowledge:
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision while exercising considerable initiative, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Self-motivated with a passion for developing and facilitating alternative pathways into and through TRU.
  • Proven ability to organize, prioritize and handle a variety of projects, deadlines and schedules simultaneously and under minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Must have experience managing sensitive and confidential information.
  • Demonstrated decision-making skills in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint, and an understanding of how to use databases effectively.
  • Knowledge of plans, opportunities and challenges of organizational partners.
  • Knowledge of post-secondary education, trends and challenges.
  • Proven collaboration ability.
  • Tact, discretion, sensitivity to confidential matters.
