Purpose of Position

Under general supervision, the responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to proactive collaboration with customers and key partners in ensuring payroll is processed accurately. This role requires independent thinking and actions in handling payroll analysis and validations. They must understand the pay practices and policies for all employee groups. Knowledge of federal, state, and local legal requirements, pay regulations and overtime compliance is required. Solid knowledge and ability to process payrolls, calculate gross pay and net pay, contract adjustments, retirement contributions, tax adjustments and W-2s. Determine process improvement actions, develop plans, and implement those actions.

The position is also responsible for leading all district's payroll tasks. These duties will also include training, motivating, developing, mentoring, providing feedback and support along with other duties related to this lead worker role. This incumbent should have a growth mindset for a multi-faceted operation while focusing on creating a positive work culture.

  • Qualifications

    Minimally qualified applicants will have experience with:
    • Troubleshooting and solving problems, including reverse engineering problems to find a resolution when there are no clear instructions/guidance.
    • Providing excellent customer service communication strategies and utilizing appropriate interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Managing multiple priorities and supporting others to accomplish payroll and organizational priorities.


    A well-qualified candidate will also have experience with:
    • Applying payroll, benefits, employment laws and policies along with experience learning new processes, procedures, or systems.
    • Analyzing and utilizing large datasets using Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, user databases, HRIS systems, or similar systems.


    Environmental Adaptability

    Ability to work under general safe and comfortable conditions where exposure to environmental factors is minimal and poses little to no risk of injury.
