Based at our global headquarters in Houston, TX, the Capital Equipment Procurement Manager will manage the sourcing, negotiation, and execution of complex capital equipment for our organization. The ideal candidate will have capital equipment purchasing, project management, and an understanding of technical details related to high technology manufacturing equipment. This position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, negotiations with external suppliers, and stakeholder management skills. Success in the role will implement successful procurement strategies, cost efficiency, and on-time delivery of capital equipment projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Sourcing, Procurement, and Supplier Management
Identifies and evaluates potential suppliers of capital equipment.
Negotiates favorable terms and conditions with vendors to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality.
Develops and maintains strong relationships with suppliers and manages vendor performance.
Collaborates with internal teams to ensure equipment meets the required specifications and performance standards.
Ensures compliance with internal procurement policies and procedures.
Manage sourcing operations that build value-driven vendor partnerships with a focus on risk management, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

Conduct RFI and RFQ
Prepares, distributes, and manages Requests for Information (RFI) and Requests for Quotation (RFQ) processes for new capital equipment purchases.
Evaluates RFI and RFQ responses to ensure alignment with technical, commercial, and operational requirements.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams (e.g., engineering, operations) to review and select the best-fit solutions.
Documents and tracks all RFI/RFQ activities, including bid analysis and vendor negotiations.

Technical and Equipment Expertise
Maintains deep technical knowledge of capital equipment specifications and industry standards.
Provides guidance on equipment selection, installation, and maintenance requirements.
Works closely with engineering and maintenance teams to ensure equipment compatibility and seamless integration into production lines.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend improvements or upgrades.

Project Management
Leads the procurement and installation of capital equipment projects from initiation to completion.
Develops detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets for equipment acquisition and implementation.
Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.
Coordinates with stakeholders across multiple departments to ensure timely delivery and installation of equipment.
Tracks project progress and resolves any issues or delays that may arise.

Reporting and Communication
Prepares and presents regular status reports on capital equipment projects, including cost analysis, timelines, and performance metrics.
Communicates project updates and supplier performance to senior management and key stakeholders.
Maintains accurate records of equipment procurement activities and ensures documentation is up-to-date for audits or internal reviews.
Serves as the main point of contact between suppliers and internal teams to address any issues or concerns.
Study market intelligence and conducts frequent market analysis and benchmarking to anticipate price fluctuations.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
5 years of experience in capital equipment procurement with a proven record of managing complex sourcing projects.
Potential for 25% of domestic and/or international travel.

Preferred Qualifications:
Association for Supply Chain Management certification (ASCM), Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP).
Project Management Institute (PMI) or Certified as Project Management Professional (PMP).

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Strong understanding of capital equipment specifications, manufacturing processes, and machinery requirements.
Proven experience in managing procurement projects, coordinating with multiple stakeholders to deliver on-time and on-budget results.
Skilled in developing, editing, and executing supply and service agreements, with the ability to negotiate favorable costs, terms, and lead times.
Competent in analyzing technical data, cost models, and RFQ results to make informed procurement decisions.
Superior organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities to manage multiple projects effectively.
Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and detail orientation.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in teams, with a proactive approach to anticipating challenges and responding.
Persuasive and quick-thinking during negotiations with internal and external stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems.

Physical Demands:

This position requires sitting at a desk and viewing a computer screen for extended periods while working or performing other office tasks. Ability to move around the office, including occasional standing, walking, and bending to retrieve documents, attend meetings, or use office equipment. Some light lifting may be required, up to 20 lbs.
