The Senior Product Liability Engineer will be a member of the Water Damage Product Liability team tasked with managing Product Liability costs for all GE appliances due to water damage. This new role provides the unique opportunity to provide oversight to claim spending and directly impacts COQ dollars on a daily basis. This role also allows for wide visibility with reviews with all water using product lines, including but not limited to monthly COQ meetings and weekly part return reviews.evaluation, and execution of projects within refrigeration technology

How You'll Create Possibilities
- Establish a new authority review process, coordinated with the GEA Legal team, for all non-safety related property damage claims above a selected dollar threshold. Review will consist of determining technical responsibility for the failure and establishing proper costs associated with the failure through property appraisals and other available data.
- Conduct new authority review process on all claims above selected threshold to provide spending oversight on our third-party administrator (TPA) for claims.
- Drive root cause analysis of new failure modes with cross-functional team members to eliminate future failures and ensure cost recovery when defective parts/processes are found.
- Assist with data gathering and documentation for report outs to Quality, Sourcing, Technology and Product Management of the team's findings and next steps.
- Assist with training the TPA examiners and manage the data gathering process with the TPA.
- Participate in quarterly audit of TPA examiners for proper claim management and subrogation document gathering.
What You'll Bring to Our Team
- Prior work experience engaging cross-functionally with the Quality and Sourcing teams
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing design.
- Design experience in water-carrying components. For example, water valves, tubing/hoses, pumps, etc.
- Understanding of Product Liability process and terminology
- A basic understanding of home flooring designs and installation methods
- Ability to simplify complex information and concisely prepare both verbal and written executive summaries to the Appliance Leadership Team
