Architectural Designer

The Architectural Designer is a key member of BLDD Architects' project team and is the engine of our practice. As an Architectural Designer you will have the opportunity to join one of the nation's best design firms while creating every day and working alongside other design team members of the firm to hone your craft as the future of BLDD. Our Architectural Designers will follow the concept through to completion and learn to design at a deeper functional and aesthetic level. They will coordinate with the lead designer, lead Interior Designer and project team to maintain the spirit of the design throughout the project.

The Architectural Designer will be teamed with other design professionals, firm leaders, and consultants on project teams in the delivery of world class client experience and exceptional architectural design. Architectural Designer 1 - Primary Responsibilities
Plans, develops, and facilitates the execution of new building designs and/or building expansions, or renovations according to client's needs, desires, and financial resources.
Prepares preliminary sketches and scale drawings, encompassing the client's priorities in terms of needs vs. desires.
Creates detailed plans integrating engineering, electrical, and HVAC considerations; presents plans to internal team for review and approval.
Modifies new or existing plans as required.
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

Architectural Designer 2 - Additional Responsibilities
Prepares and presents designs, specifications, estimated costs, and proposed construction schedule to internal team.
With direction from Senior team members, incorporates client's preferences regarding materials, styles, colors, and other variables.

Architectural Designer 3 - Additional Responsibilities
Develops and creates building designs, based on client's needs and desires, and ensures execution of drawings and design ideas throughout the production life cycle.
Provides technical guidance to Design staff.

Architectural Designer Senior - Additional Responsibilities
Coordinates the client's needs and desires throughout the project life cycle with the internal team
Consults with the client on design aspects, specifications, estimated costs, and construction schedule.
Prepares contract requirements and submits for bids.
Assists the client in selecting and awarding construction contracts.

Qualifications
0-5 Years of experience in Architecture or related field.
Professional degree in architecture or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Day Travel within the regional Midwest - up to 15%.
Valid State Driver's License required.
Pursuing Architectural licensure in the State of Missouri and/or Illinois preferred.
Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong work ethic, energetic, optimistic, and positive attitude.
Attention to detail, with great organizational skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Sheets & Docs, Adobe Acrobat and Bluebeam required.
Strong expertise in Revit, Lumion, Sketchup and other modeling software required.
Willingness to learn and desire to contribute to the team's success.
Work is of a creative nature, requires independent judgment and discretion, and is intellectual and varied to where the output cannot be standardized with regard to time.

Physical/Visual/Mental Demands: Position requires the ability to react, move about, install, remove and replace objects, exchange information verbally and in writing, detect and observe situations, requires the use of an automobile, lift and move up to 50 lbs., work with others, computer and phone system, near and far vision required, infrequently works with chemicals/toxins.

Typical Working Conditions: The Architectural Designer will work inside, with a flexible work schedule that allows for varying start and end times. BLDD's unrelenting work ethic and ambitious performance standards ensure both productivity and flexibility for our staff. Regular attendance required.
