We are looking for Accounting Manager to join Kaiser Aluminum's extrusion and tubular operation in Bellwood Virginia!

The Accounting Manager is responsible for maintaining the accounting processes and controls needed to report financial results in a public reporting entity. The Accounting Manager will ensure timely preparation of financial reports, accurate cost accounting practices, and internal control & compliance ("SOX") of all applicable accounting, inventory and procurement processes for the facility.

What you will work on:
  • Accounting activities including revenue recognition, inventory, and fixed asset accounting under US GAAP and SEC regulations.
  • Maintaining and improving the accounting systems, processes, and internal controls necessary to accurately and efficiently report financial results.
  • Act as a key leader in change management within the accounting organization; identifying ways to streamline processes and implement "best practices."
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls ("SOX") as related to accounting processes, including but not limited to revenue recognition, monthly close, procurement and inventory accounting.
  • Proactively plan, organize and prioritize risk management involved in financial, internal control, tax, and bank audits.
  • Partnering with operations and sales teams; ability to translate business needs into actionable accounting initiatives.
  • Partnering with Plant Controller to develop, implement and execute accounting processes as required to meet facility and corporate objectives.


What you will bring to the role:

A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and education in Accounting, Finance, Business Management or related business field is required for this position. CPA and/or CMA a plus.

  • Three (3) years experience with manufacturing accounting functions:
  • US GAAP revenue recognition, inventory & standard costing, and fixed asset accounting strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of accounting transactional systems and cost accounting principles.
  • Experience with manufacturing ERP systems preferred. Implementation experience a plus.
  • Strong Excel skill. Ability to work with data extract tools such as Hubble, Alteryx, etc. a plus.
  • Prior exposure to internal controls and compliance (SOX).
  • Experience with standard cost environments in manufacturing.
  • Prior exposure to a process industry and in-depth inventory LIFO calculations is a plus.
  • Professional and positive attitude in dealing with all organizational stakeholders and work teams, including those working under a collective bargaining agreement.
  • Be dependable and available to accommodate monthly and quarterly accounting close cycles and timeline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including Excel modeling.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Approximately 90% of the job function is performed in an office setting requiring normal safety precautions. 10% of the job function is required in the plant. There is exposure to operating machinery and a manufacturing environment.
